03:06Here's the reason why I like Georgia you saw last year and there's a stark contrast man

03:10I always gonna work this in
03:12Florida State last year had a chance to prove that they were upset about being left out of the national championship picture
03:18They took their program in a completely different direction
03:21Georgia in the most heartbreaking loss you can have losing to your rival in the SEC
03:26Championship game got left out of the college football playoff. Then they didn't pal. They
03:32Absolutely put it on
03:34Florida State in that bowl game
03:35they had nothing to play for so they went in with all that momentum and the great recruiting classes and
03:41Bringing back your starting quarterback from last year
03:43What's not to love to like about the Georgia Bulldogs and also keep a member last year Ben
03:48We only had four teams that got into the national playoff and you saw
03:53Georgia should have been one of those teams if we had been a 12 team playoff last year
03:58You know probably wins the national championship for me the Georgia Bulldogs
04:02I think they're gonna be on a mission this year and they have the extra ammunition knowing that if they lose one football game
04:09They're still going to be playing for a national championship. I love the Georgia Bulldogs
04:13I love the pedigree Kirby smarts one of my favorite coaches because in those times we have to rally your troops in a meaningless football game
04:21He was able to do that. That shows me a lot. They're on the path once again to a national championship game this year
04:27I believe that
04:29Donnie I think it's really hard to argue. I believe Georgia is going to win the SEC
04:33I believe UGA is going to be in the college football playoff. It's a minus 520 price to reach that destination
04:40It's actually the second best number behind Ohio State who I'll talk about in just a moment the Bucs
04:45Minus 650 but Donnie's spot-on in the assessment around Kirby smarts dogs
04:51We were so mad at least some of us about Florida State being the first of 15
04:56undefeated power 5 conference champions in the 10-year history of the college football playoff to be left out of the field that we
05:04Kind of overlooked Georgia
05:06Missing the crop as well
05:08It was hard to make an argument for UGA just based on resume and not I test in talent
05:14Because of all the capable teams that we had in the field a season ago
05:20But Georgia has lost one football game in its last 30
05:24Georgia has lost two football games in its last 48 dating back to its final four of the
05:312020 college football season and both of those football games against Alabama in an SEC
05:39Championship game and in that span Georgia has won two
05:42National championships one of my favorite things the RS about this UGA team is expecting a better defense
05:48Than we even saw last year better. What are you talking about?
05:51They were still in top 10 scoring defensive unit in the country
05:55Yes, but they had regressed at least up front in defending the run
05:59I expect a lot of good things out of this, Georgia front this year

06:11Who might be one of the best DB's and safeties in all of college football?
06:15But my favorite thing Donnie is flipping the narrative on this Georgia team when they won two consecutive natties
06:21It wasn't Stetson Bennett in the offense. It was that elite defense some of the best units
06:26We have seen in the last two decades plus in college football this year
06:30I think it actually starts offensively for Georgia
06:33Led by Carson Beck was the second best Heisman Trophy price and had the third most passing yards last year in college football more than
06:413,900 Georgia was a top-five total in scoring offense nearly averaging 42 points per game a
06:48Season ago. The offense is really good in Athens this year in the defense. I think gets back to an elite level
06:55I would not be shocked to see a rematch of the college football playoffs semifinal from
07:002022 in this year's national championship game
07:04Georgia and Ohio State the Buckeyes are my pick to win a national championship at a four to one number
07:10So Donnie and I going slightly chalk with the favorites and then mine the second best price in Ohio State
07:16But the Buckeyes saw Michigan won a national championship a season ago and said never again

07:24They have seen Michigan dominate not only them with the Big Ten the last three years and they have invested in bringing everybody back

08:54So you haven't played in a big game yet at this university and you lose that
08:58You can still make the college football playoff learn from that game and move on
09:01This is what makes it so intriguing when you're picking a national champion
09:04We're not necessarily looking at the schedule so much anymore
09:06But just looking at the quality of the team what you anticipate if they can lose one game or less. You're in it

09:59So follows the corollary path all of those things would have added up together if it were to happen

10:12We got to spread our wings but watching last night was phenomenal and sort of laying out the game plan of how you can win a
10:18Heisman I told you like typically it's going to be a quarterback because they're gonna have their Heisman moments on a good football team make
10:23Big plays in big situations. You're gonna get the bump there
10:26But statistics from the running back position and the wide receiver position usually leave out how good your football team is
10:33So yes
10:34You would love the extra bump if you were wide receiver at Alabama like the Vonta Smith killing it out there on a national
10:40Championship caliber team sure, but if you're not going to have that why not have a school that's in a conference
10:47Notorious for not playing a lot of defense. You already don't have a great defense
10:51Which means you are going to throw with your top flight quarterback
10:55Routinely 35 to 45 times in the game and you just might be the best wide receiver in football now
11:02Also, Ben when I talk about what you say the MVP award the extracurriculars this guy young award the same thing like Paul Skeens
11:09Hey, you know what if Skeens was the linchpin for the Pittsburgh Pirates bringing him up to the majors and surging towards the plate
11:17People gonna look at that look, you know, what is he always up there with, you know, Zach Wheeler's and it's up there with Chris
11:22Sales, but boy he was the catalyst for them winning. You might get an extra couple votes that way
11:26Well, when you take a look here from a college football team
11:28It works that way in the actual quarterback position if you're winning
11:32But for a wide receiver wins and losses aren't measured on you here and also the extracurriculars for Travis Hunter
11:37Are he plays two positions and plays them all game and he's not just feeling like hey
11:41The guy plays on special teams and he's a wider. Oh, that's interesting
11:44Like no, he might play
11:46100-plus snaps every single football game between offense and defense this year
11:51So the extracurriculars go in his direction and yes, you might be watching it based off of yesterday
11:56I'm like boy, you're getting really excited about one player
11:59It's not as if this guy just showed up like wow never seen him before
12:02He was awesome last year and it looks like Ben. He's even better this year
12:07since
12:082019 of the 23 Heisman Trophy winners have played the quarterback position in the college football playoff era
12:14Eight of the ten if you are going to be a non QB in
12:17Legitimately be in the Heisman Trophy race all season long
12:20You have to be Travis Hunter the best two-way player in college football nearing a hundred and twenty five snaps

12:41If they're going to be a five or six win football team and not really in college football playoff

12:59Sure, or Sanders and Travis Hunter both at 25 to 1 following last night's victory over North Dakota State

13:15Fully and if you have some questions about taking over for Nick Saban and a very large shoes to fill in terms of the program
13:22fine in terms of developing quarterbacks now look at Michael Pennix jr. At Indiana and
13:29Washington look at Jake Hainer under the boar at Fresno State and then look at Milrow a season ago

13:36250 yards three times but potentially in Alabama's toughest games outside of the SEC title against, Texas
13:44Texas A&M and Auburn also ran for more than 530 yards in 12 rushing scores and Donnie as you well
13:51Know when it comes to the rushing yards for a quarterback in college football
13:56Sacks or a negative it takes away from your rushing yardage output and Alabama gave up 49 sacks
14:03Last year, it was a concern for Nick Saban all season long. It's going to get better under Kalen DeBoer

14:13One of the best guards in the sport is back for Bama as well because of who is offensive mind now is
14:21Kalen DeBoer and because of what Jalen Milrow possesses back for another year as a starting quarterback
14:26Keep an eye on the signal caller for the Crimson Tide at a 14 to 1 price to win a Heisman Trophy
14:32It's crazy as we look at Alabama this year
14:34We know they're high rated but it almost feels like Alabama's in like the sleeper category since Nick Saban isn't there as if this college
14:40Football team would fall off the planet right away
14:42DeBoer is a great offensive mind and certainly going to help Jalen Milrow out
14:47I expect big things out of Alabama and that means big football games chances for a lot of Heisman moments
14:53Maybe the biggest moment in Jalen Milrow's career is when Kevin Walsh and Joe Lisi. We're watching the National College Football Playoff
15:00It's on tape. It's recorded and chased out of the room was Kevin Walsh by screaming Milro Milro Milro
15:07Yeah, maybe this year. He actually gets over the top
15:10He's capable and he could do it and I expect big things from him and Alabama this year. He certainly is DRS

15:27App state boo. No, North Carolina. One of the best atmospheres you'll find in g5 football out
15:32Even though I don't think g5 teams should be included in the college football playoff
15:36They will be there will be a player Joey Aguilar
15:39Very good season last year returning back and just like we're talking about Ohio State
15:44How about nine starters back on the defense for App State?
15:46There'll be a player this year and I think they can win the Sunbelt
15:50Joey Aguilar one of the top ten quarterbacks last year in college football seventh most passing yards

16:02Interceptions, I think Boise State is going to win the Mountain West once again
16:06They're a minus 145 favorite to win that conference crown
16:09And of course as you are trying to lock up one of the five bids

16:22Which I believe the Broncos will have the opportunity to do a four-to-one price to reach the college football playoff

17:31I love this just from a handicapping perspective if you're not really in tune with college football going over the day-to-day scheduling
17:37You'd say to yourself, that's ridiculous
17:39It has to be an error, but it's not if you look at Florida schedule this year
17:43Are the expectations high for them talent-wise not necessarily coupled with that SEC schedule?
17:49Can you like in my four wins for Florida football team? I'm going under that number is so outrageous
17:56There has to be something to it and what's to it?
17:58It's that schedule they have and the thing I love about it is game number one
18:02You're gonna know a lot about Florida if they lose to Miami that's four and a half
18:07Absolutely in play and I think they lose this weekend
18:11The last time that Florida only won four games in a season was
18:162017 and that was the last of Jim McElwain in Gainesville
18:20Nobody has a more difficult schedule this year than you F and it starts on Saturday
18:26I'll be it at home as an underdog against Miami the Gators play eight
18:32Preseason ranked top 25 teams and I dare you to go look at the final five
18:38For you F that starts with the cocktail party against, Georgia and gets no easier in the month of
18:45November this is the first win total that I bet
18:48Way back early in the offseason where the juice at the time to the over was minus 110

19:32Five of the six by ten points or less three of the five by just a field goal
19:38So I expect this Iowa State team to win at least eight games this year
19:43Maybe even contend for a big 12 title, Oklahoma
19:47Who won 14 big 12 titles 14 of the 28 when they were given out conference championships in that?
19:54League now goes to the SEC and the Sooners have a difficult slate as well
20:00Much like Florida they end the year with a grueling gauntlet
20:04They have the fifth most difficult schedule in all of college football
20:08Here is Oh use final four games at Ole Miss
20:13FCS opponent Maine sandwiched in between at Missouri home against Alabama at
20:18LSU in Baton Rouge
20:20I don't think Oklahoma's a bad football team
20:22But seven and a half with an OU defense that needs to keep improving under Brent Bennett bulls and a first-year starter at quarterback in
20:30Jackson old despite the talent that Arnold is I lean under with just a very
20:36difficult slate to start off their SEC time I
20:40Make some sense to Ben because you're looking at that team now and also that fan base by now saying oh a great season is eight
20:46Wins that used to get your coach fired at Oklahoma. So the times are changing along with
20:52Expectations they're gonna have to adjust
20:54All right, your conference championship pick could have been everything in the pick six. So finish with your canes
21:00It's Miami. It is and the table has already been set here
21:03You saw Florida State not gonna be a player this year in college football
21:06Now you see Clemson's gonna take on Georgia week number one and you're gonna see the Miami Hurricanes take on the Florida Gators
21:13You might be looking at Miami of those top three teams the only team with a victory here to start their season
21:20Maybe the expectations on Florida State even to get dropped by BC coming up on Labor Day
21:25We'll watch that all the way through the Miami Hurricanes and Mario Cristobal rightfully
21:29So getting back to being the kings of college football. I
21:33Have my questions about Cristobal and his game
21:37Management coaching styles not the talent for Miami in the schedule is not all that bad
21:43They host Florida State don't have Clemson or NC State
21:46I'll make it quick Kansas State to win the Big 12 because of Avery Johnson their quarterback

21:57Georgia is on the mind as we start our breakdown and preview of the first full Saturday of the college football
22:04Season in 2024 that comes your way
22:08Tomorrow it's got Donny right side singing in the commercial breaks and it's got our focus
22:13First and foremost the first of three ranked versus ranked matchups that we have in week number one in Atlanta
22:21Technically a neutral site
22:22but don't tell that to the Clemson backers that are trying to outbid dogs backers to get a ticket to the
22:29ATL it's a top 15 tilt between Georgia and
22:33Clemson the Bulldogs enter the year ranked atop the country in the preseason poll for a second consecutive season
22:40Clemson remains in the top 15 ranked 14th
22:43But Donny if we can use this spread as an indication of the trajectory of these two programs in the last three years
22:50I do believe it is fitting both started the year against one another in
22:552021 in Charlotte week number one kickoff game in
23:00Primetime neutral site Clemson was a three-point favorite now three years later
23:06neutral site in Atlanta
23:09Georgia is nearly a two touchdown favorite
23:12It was 13 and a half bright and early on this Friday morning
23:16It is 12 in a hook but nearly 15 16 points of line movement from where we were
23:22Three years ago total at 48 in a hook
23:26Oh, by the way, when they last met back in 2021 in that season debut
23:31Georgia was victorious 10 to 3
23:33And it seems like the same trajectory for Clemson, right
23:37It used to be the days of Trevor Lawrence was fantastic that offense could move
23:40Superstars all over the field to Sean Watson same thing
23:43I don't get that same respect you had a Clemson's offense and also club that come again
23:47Expected to be that next level five-star recruit that was going to take you to the next and we haven't seen that yet out of
23:53Him, maybe you see it this year
23:55But to put him in that neutral site as I want to put in like air quotes at this point down at SEC
24:01Territory in the Mercedes-Benz dome, that's not really fair for him at this point
24:05But you're expected to perform like nobody's from Clemson even dabbled swing is going to know what let's go in here and see what we can
24:10Do and if we lose let's just keep it close. We'll be happy
24:12No, Clemson is expected to play for a national championship or be on that level
24:16Which means you're gonna have to be against that for Georgia. Hear me out on this
24:20I don't understand the line movement to be honest
24:22Thirteen and a half down to twelve and a half if you're looking at the fan blue sports book right now under betting statistics
24:27Percentage of bets on Georgia
24:2975% percentage of money
24:3184% on Georgia and the line is dropping so you are getting sharp money here coming on Clemson bringing that line down
24:38When you typically have that much money, you don't go from 13 after 12 and a fan
24:42You go from 13 after 14 and after 15 in that ring
24:45So that does have my eye but for me looking at the season at totality
24:49I just think Georgia is so much better in this spot
24:51And if I look at this game and say whose offense am I gonna trust right out of the gate in a big moment?
24:57It's gonna be George's it's not Clemson's here. I look for a two touchdown victory from Georgia a win and a cover. I
25:04Guess one of the reasons the line could be working back to Davos
25:08Weenies Tigers is because you see the total of 48 and a hook in an ear to touchdown spread for Georgia to cover
25:14By 14 plus in this game to stay around that total
25:18That's a lot of scoring from Georgia and that's not a lot of scoring
25:22From Clemson that three-year span from when they met to start 2021 to where we are now at the beginnings of
25:292024 Georgia has won two national championships. They have won 44 of 46 games
25:35They are on a 39 game win streak in the regular season
25:40Meanwhile Clemson that entered the 2021 campaign winning six consecutive ACC crowns and six berths
25:47Into the college football playoff. They have not been back to the CFP
25:51They have one ACC title to show for it and last year for conference losses the most
25:57Since Davos Sweeney's second full year at the helm of Clemson back in
26:032010 that is where these two programs are
26:06Entering this year and my main focus DRS is not on the defensive side of the football these two programs
26:11Two of five programs around the country that in the last five full seasons have held
26:17Opponents to less than 20 points per game on average all five years Clemson, Georgia, Iowa
26:23Michigan Penn State those the five good defenses
26:26It's the Tigers offense less than 30 points per game last season and in the past three years
26:32They have not ranked inside the top three in terms of the ACC in scoring offense in those six years from 2015 to 2020
26:40Six straight conference crowns six straight college football playoff bids two national championships in 2016 and 2018
26:48Of course, they were ranked inside the top three all
26:52three
26:53Seasons Eileen, Georgia in this football game and I would keep an eye on Carson Beck's number again
27:01I think you start the conversation this year with Georgia offensively knowing the defense is going to be stout
27:08Once again, so that's one of the three top 25 right versus ranked matchups that we have now we go prime time
27:15In college station at Kyle field one of the great environments in college football
27:21It's a top 20 tilt 20th ranked, Texas a at M
27:257th ranked Notre Dame the Aggies now a two and a half point home favorite under a field goal
27:31But Notre Dame opened early in the summer as a slight money line favorite in
27:37College station Mike Elko's debut as the head man in college station
27:42Former Duke coach the past two years spent four years under Jimbo Fisher as Texas a and M's defensive coordinator
27:49He reunites in his first game at a and M
27:52Against his former quarterback at Duke Riley Leonard who's now the QB for Notre Dame confused. That's college football in 2024
28:01Certainly is so, you know the strengths and the weaknesses right off the bat
28:05Now, can you play into that a little bit too much? Maybe that quarterback does make some changes by going to Notre Dame
28:10We're gonna find out but also what do we like we just talked about a top 20 tilt with Clemson and Georgia
28:15Fantastic love to see it right off the bat without any cupcake scheduling to start the season
28:19You're getting the same thing here with Notre Dame and Texas a and M and also we talked about that Clemson Georgia game
28:24Technically it is on a neutral site. So you're not going to get that home field advantage
28:28You're gonna get one of the best home field advantages in college football down in college station
28:33They're gonna be ready for Notre Dame. That atmosphere is gonna be great
28:36their quarterback is coming back to the fold, but it's it's sort of a
28:40I'll say a tough
28:42Concept for me because I don't know what I'm getting out of Mike Elko and that football team right off the bat
