New NT chief minister vows swift legislation to hit crime

New NT chief minister-elect Lia Finocchiaro has reiterated the tough approach to law and order that helped her win the election.

00:00Well part of what we've always said and will deliver on is making sure that

00:04Territory Families is focused on the care and protection of children. We know

00:08a lot of the reason my kids are out on the street committing crimes is because

00:12they're not being supported at home and so this is really important work that

00:16needs to be done which is why Youth Justice will sit with corrections so that

00:20kids who are offending can be dealt with in the appropriate environment but kids

00:25who aren't can be supported to live happy healthy lives. That's what we want

00:28for all Territory kids.
