02:04You know what the saddest part of last night watching sports was?

02:07Not the Giants game.

02:08It was me flipping around channels, and the Padre game popped up on my feed, and I watched

02:14Jerks and Profar, who anyone in baseball could have had for pennies, hit a ball down the

02:20line for a home run on a Tuesday night at San Diego.

02:24And I watched the crowd, and I listened to the crowd, and I said to myself, dear God,

02:29I remember when AT&T, aka Oracle, aka Pac-Bell Park felt like that on a Tuesday night.

02:34And everybody, all these giant fan snobs online, all right, you know exactly who you are.

02:40The same ones that cape up for, you know, platooning Austin Slater when he's actually

02:45not good anymore against lefties, even though Baltimore did that yesterday, batting him

02:48lead off.

02:52The fans have rejected the Giants' brand of baseball.

02:55And I look over at the Padres, and you can say, Joe, they haven't won anything.

02:58They haven't won anything.

02:59No, I'm not going to say that.

03:01They haven't won anything.

03:02But what they have done is captivated that market.

03:05And I'm watching how fans are on a Tuesday night as school is back.

03:09You see all the pictures online of all the friends and people you follow.

03:12All the kids are back in school.

03:13And on a Tuesday night in San Diego, the 72-win Padre team, ready to try to go after

03:19the Dodgers with one month to go.

03:21This team has that area, that region, in a fervor for Padre baseball.

03:27And I say to myself, look, they might not win a World Series, but what they've done

03:31in terms of building a team and drawing excitement, that's how you connect with the consumer.

03:37Jerks for Profar once was a five-tool prospect.

03:40He was like, you know, you think of Jackson Holliday, you think of some of these prospects

03:45who come up.

03:46Jackson Toretto with Milwaukee.

03:48That's who Jerks for Profar was coming up through the Texas Rangers system.

03:52And he just couldn't stay healthy, didn't have a position, and it just didn't work out

03:57for him.

03:58So he makes the all-star game this season, and it's really one of the great stories in

04:02baseball.

04:03And you get this from time to time.

04:04For a guy who was forgotten about for the first five, six, seven years of his career,

04:08and then he resurfaces, and he finds himself in that dugout with those players, and he's

04:14contributing to a winning atmosphere, a winning team, a team that's destined to make the playoffs

04:19again.

04:20Cool story for Jerks for Profar.

04:23He was on the A's, he's been on the Padres.

04:25He was, I believe, sitting out there in free agency, and anyone could have had him.

04:48But again, when he's not the centerpiece of a lineup, look at how he can impact things.

04:57And then I looked at the crowd that the Giants had, and I said to myself, I longed for the

05:01days where, Tuesday nights, there was energy in the building.

05:09And I was like, dude, they got it going on at Petco Park, the Gaslund District.

05:13And the great thing about that yard, and I underrated it, because I thought it was overrated

05:19It's pretty cool.

05:20But the great thing about it is, Ed and I sat at a hotel a few years ago down in San

05:23Diego, downtown San Diego, and we just rented a scooter.

05:27You could ride the scooter down to Petco Park.

05:31And then you walk there to the outfield, there's the Hall of Fame, there's the Tony

05:34Gwynn statue, there's kids running around.

05:36It's just a really good atmosphere.

05:38And Ed, when you leave the yard, you just pick up a scooter and scoot back up four or

05:43five blocks up the street to the hotel.

05:4575 degrees at, you know, nine o'clock at night is a pretty beautiful setting for baseball.

05:51So where do the White Sox fall?

05:54Are they going to be the worst team in baseball?
