00:26If I told you, Shaski, hey, the 49ers

00:29aren't going to make the NFC Championship game,

00:31despite all this stuff happening, considering how hard it is,

00:35considering how teams are getting better within the conference,

00:37Green Bay, Detroit, Philadelphia, I think is going to be back.

00:40The Rams maybe has something to do with it.

00:42Teva Bay, they did make the playoffs last year to division around

00:45and they were a drive away from making the NFC Championship game.

00:48And they gave the Niners all they could handle in the regular season.

00:51If I said, Joe Shaski, the Niners are going to lose in the second round

00:54of the playoffs.

00:56What would you say?

00:57Would you be disappointed?

00:58In the second round, the divisional round?

01:01Wow. I mean, that would tell me that they had to play a wild card game, probably.

01:05And, oh, man, that, yeah, it'd be pretty disappointing

01:08because you're also like zooming out at the big picture.

01:11Like, is that the last big run for this, this core?

01:16You know, given given the finances of where the team's at,

01:18the age of where the team's at and looking forward at

01:23like what Purdy's got going.

01:28probably CMC if you pulled all the fans, right?

02:00And let's just start with winning the division, right?

02:01We know it's about winning the Super Bowl, but you got to win the division first

02:04or at least you hope to, because that's the easiest route

02:07to clinching a playoff game at home.

02:10I'd be really disappointed because this team is really top heavy.

02:14Now, one of the oldest rosters heading into the year and all blah, blah, blah.

02:19It's more like this team's been through so many unbelievably long

02:23and difficult seasons that it takes a punishing toll.

02:26And I just seen it with the hardball era.

02:29It is very difficult to pick yourself up

02:33after losing the Super Bowl and then go through the grind again

02:37and then do it year after year after year, physically, physically,

02:41as well as the emotional toll.

02:43Took him five years to go from one Super Bowl to the other.

02:46So, like, I would think we're probably in a two or three year

02:50like kind of reset.

02:51So with all that said, though, it would be sad.

02:54All that said, all that said, though, with Lizard, a Super Bowl,

02:57having a Super Bowl hangover in four or five years played deep into January,

03:01early February, it shouldn't be disappointing if, say,

03:06they didn't make the industry championship game.

03:09I. With all that data and, you know, when we talk about 400 guys

03:14who touched the ball for 400 times or 400 times a season,

03:18that next season really, you know, there's a drop off.

03:21And look, it wouldn't surprise anybody if McCaffrey didn't have this season

03:24and he had a year ago.

03:25Devo Samuel is yet to have the season that he had in 2021.

03:29Hell, Brennan, I may not have the season he had last year.

03:32George Kittle, has he ever replicated his great seasons from the early

03:36the late 2019, 2020?

03:39You don't say he did have a thousand yards last year.

03:40I was going to say last year is really good.

03:44Now you got a new weapons that we'll see about Ricky Pierce.

04:11It just feels like it's the Chiefs to lose.

04:13And it feels like they're going to three peat.

04:15And not only are they going to three peat, they're going to have four Super Bowls

04:18and two of them are going to be against the Niners at minimum.

04:20And that just sucks.

04:22And it feels like we're in an unfortunate era.

04:26And we built a really, really, really good team that had two opportunities,

04:31really great opportunities to win a Super Bowl.

04:34And we're going to look back and we're going to be part of the montage

04:39of highlights for somebody else's Canton induction.

04:42And it just sucks.

04:44Even though they lost both those games in the last three minutes,

04:49like basically they lost on the last playover time.

04:52And in Miami, had the ball with a minute forty nine left

04:55at the forty nine yard line with three timeouts left.

04:59They're that close to winning.

05:00Is it the same core?

05:02Do you think that the core is the same from the 2019 Super Bowl to now?

05:06No, I mean, Kittle, Warner, Debo.

05:12The team's turned over a lot.

05:33with a lot of the same players in a five year window

05:37lose two Super Bowls and then come back and are better.

05:41And when they finally win one, I, I would be shocked

05:45if there's anyone out there that has lost two before winning one.

05:48Maybe you've lost one in one one.

05:50I would love to know if anyone lost two Super Bowls and then come back in one one.

05:55Well, John Elway did. Right. Lost three Super Bowls.

05:57It took a long time.

05:58I know that. But he just asked me the name of a team, a team.

06:02In like a short period of time because they've lost two and five years.

06:06And then like Elway didn't win the first one until 96, 96, 97.

06:12So 89 and 96, 97, 98.

06:15No doubt. It's a long time.

06:17It's a lot of different Buffalo Bills.

06:18And I sound really pessimistic, but I'm telling you, I know you're not.

06:22I'm surprised because a lot of this has to do with the cloud

06:25of the IUCN Trent situation.

06:26So what is it going to take for you to get fired up for football season?

06:29Well, I mean, obviously, once, you know, things start happening

06:32on like the first week of the regular season is going to be awesome and all that.

06:36It's just the regular season feels so deemphasized.

06:39They were unbelievable in the regular season last year.

06:43And they played their worst football in December and January.

06:46So are you going to look at the regular season said so?

06:50Like, for example, if they start the season six or one, they beat the Chiefs.

06:56We still kind of be like, huh?

06:57No, no, no. I'll be super excited and I'll be pumped up.

07:00But that it's more like, again, increasing your odds of getting the bye.

07:06And that's the easiest, quickest path to the Super Bowl.

07:08Can you go through the wild card?

07:10Can you go through playing all three?

07:11I mean, the Chiefs just did it right.

07:13They went on the road and the Niners are battle tested.

07:15They can go on the road. It's just a lot harder.

07:17See, I thought the Viz were off.

07:20And then I attended that preseason game.

07:22On Sunday against the Saints.

07:24And there was a lot of 49er fans at that preseason game

07:27against the Saints who were jacked up.

07:29Stoked that football was back and were locked in.

07:34So I think maybe just being at a game may help

07:38because it certainly helped me.

07:39I was like, all right, it's I'm I'm I'm good with this.

07:42Football's back. It's getting closer and closer.

07:45You start to, you know, you see the schedule, the wire schedule came out

07:48and has asked me, what road game do you want to go to?

07:50I'm thinking, boy, and then you got a bunch of buddy said,

07:53we want to go to Buffalo December 1st.

07:54So now my juices are flowing.

07:57But a lot of fans are like you, Shasky, where you just.

08:01I could feel it.

08:02I could feel the lack of excitement.

08:05And I'm I'm a little stunned by it, to be honest.

08:07But even then, like I watched the whole game and then I watched it back

08:10and then I watched it back and like obviously did the condensed version on the NFL.

08:14Like I still love watching.

08:16I'm over here salivating over a seventh round linebacker from two,

08:19you know, preseason games. Right.

08:21So I still love the Niners. I still love everything.

08:23I'm not saying you don't.

08:24They feel to me it does feel a tick off.

08:27Like in terms of the normal optimism, how do we get that tick up?

08:31How do we get me? I'm alone.
