00:00In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, peace be with you.

00:21Today is the feast of Popes and Pius X. He is the one who made it possible for children

00:28to receive communion at an early age, and increased and encouraged frequent communion.

00:37We acknowledge our sins, we acknowledge the compassion, the mercy, and the love of God.

00:41Lord have mercy, Christ have mercy, Lord have mercy.

00:48May Almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our sins, and lead us into healing and

00:54light everlasting.

00:55O God, who the sacred Vatican faith and the restoral of things in Christ, filled Popes

01:02and Pius X with heavenly wisdom and apostolic fortitude, graciously granted, following his

01:08teaching and example, we may gain an eternal prize, through our Lord Jesus Christ your

01:14Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God forever and

01:19ever.

01:24A reading from the First Letter of St. Paul to the Thessalonians.

01:29It was God who gave us the courage to proclaim his good news to you, in the face of great

01:36opposition.

01:37We have not taken to preaching because we are deluded, or immoral, or trying to deceive

01:45anyone.

01:46It was God who decided that we were fit to be entrusted with the good news, and when

01:52we are speaking, we are not trying to please people, but God, who can read our remotest

02:00thoughts.

02:01We know very well, and we can swear it before God, that never at any time have our speeches

02:08been simple flattery, or a cover of trying to get money, nor have we ever looked for

02:14any special honor from people, either from you or anybody else, when we could have imposed

02:21ourselves on you with full weight as apostles of Christ.

02:26Instead, we are unassuming, like a mother feeding and looking after her own children.

02:32We felt so devoted and protective towards you, and had come to love you so much that

02:39we were eager to hand over to you not only the good news, but our whole lives as well.

02:50Thus the word of the Lord.

04:22Jesus showed himself to his disciples, and after they had eaten, he said to Simon Peter,

04:32He answered, Yes, Lord, you know I love you.

04:35Jesus said to him, Feed my lambs.

04:38A second time he said to him, Simon, son of John, do you love me?

04:42He replied, Yes, Lord, you know I love you.

04:45Jesus said to him, Look after my sheep.

04:48Then he said to him a third time, Simon, son of John, do you love me?

04:53Peter was upset that he had asked him a third time, Do you love me?

04:57He said, Lord, you know everything, you know I love you.

05:15Jesus forgave Peter for denying him, accepted him, despite his human frailty, he loved him,

05:25and he still commissioned him.

05:28Today we celebrate the life of a Pope, each doing what they think is best.

05:34And yet, we are human beings with our own frailties and our own weaknesses, but God

05:41is bigger than all that.

05:44We all have our own frailties and weaknesses, but God never gives up on us.

05:51He loves us more than we can dream or imagine, and he commissions each one of us in our own

05:56different vocations to bear fruit, fruit of the good news, witnesses of God's love

06:04by our lives and relationships.

06:13Blessed are you, Lord God of all creation, for through your goodness we have this bread

06:18to offer, which earth has given you and hence have made.

06:22It will become for us the bread of life.

06:25Blessed be God forever.

06:45Blessed are you, Lord God of all creation, for through your goodness we have this wine

06:50to offer, fruit of divine work of human hands.

06:54It will become our spiritual drink.

07:09Let us pray, brothers and sisters, that my sacrifice and yours may be acceptable to God,

07:14our Almighty Father.

07:15May the Lord accept this sacrifice from our hands for the praise and glory of God's name,

07:21for our good and the good of God's holy Church.

07:24Receive with kindness our oblations of bravo and grant, O Lord, we pray, that following

07:31your teachings of hope sent by us, we may celebrate these divine mysteries with sincere

07:38reverence and receive them in a spirit of faith.

11:40Spirit, all glory and honour is yours for ever and ever.
