  • last month
Triple-digit temperatures in the forecast for a variety of Texas cities may break records this Tuesday.
Transcript
00:00It is the heat, and that's why we have
00:02so many heat alerts out still across
00:05central and eastern Texas.
00:06Now these heat alerts do extend even
00:08further east as well, where we're
00:10tracking some pretty intense heat
00:12there across southern Louisiana,
00:13including some of the southern parishes.
00:15Now, Southern Oklahoma,
00:16you're also in the game here when it
00:18comes to the pretty big heat and
00:21dangerous heat that's all due to
00:23this area of high pressure and this
00:25area of high pressure is anchored.
00:27It's not moving.
00:28It is strong and in charge,
00:30and it's keeping away a lot
00:32of the storms as well.
00:34And as it gets so hot,
00:36we're in record territory,
00:37and these are records that
00:39I wouldn't want to beat.
00:41Now we're continuing to watch
00:43these storms fire off,
00:44but why exactly are they missing
00:46out on parts of most of Texas,
00:48even across the Southern Plains?
00:50The Arklatex?
00:51Well,
00:51that's because that dome of high
00:53pressure is basically dominating
00:55the weather pattern and it's
00:56deflecting a lot of these storms,
00:58keeping them on to that Ridge,
01:00and that's where we have that instability,
01:03and that's where we can have
01:05those storms firing off,
01:06but not within that dome of high pressure.
01:08We're not going to see too many,
01:10so you're not going to catch
01:12too much relief from the heat.
01:14We're even in record territory
01:16as we head into tomorrow.
01:17Phoenix impressive.
01:18We're forecasting a high of 112,
01:20not too far off from that daily
01:22record of 113 set not that long
01:24ago in 2019 Del Rio were forecasting
01:26to be our record with a high of 110.
01:29Even Corpus Christi coming in
01:31with a high of 103 when we look
01:33at where our highs are compared
01:35to where we typically are,
01:36because some people may say that
01:38it's hot across Texas usually right,
01:40but not this hot.
01:42We're running well above our
01:43historical averages in Houston,
01:45Corpus Christi, Del Rio, El Paso,
01:46highs all in the triple digits.
01:48Dallas,
01:49you're at 100 as we head into the afternoon.
01:52Oklahoma City at 93 San Antonio.
01:54San Antonio, your Accuweather
01:55real field temperature tomorrow.
01:57Clocking in at 111 that is
01:58dangerous heat we're talking about.
02:00You're not going to find too much
02:02shade there or a relief in the shade.
02:05Accuweather real shade temperature
02:06at 106 so still going to be hot.
02:09Important to find cooling indoors.
02:10You don't have access to air conditioning.
02:13Go to a library,
02:14go somewhere because that
02:15is some intense heat.
02:16Jeff, I want to go to the pool.
02:19Bree, that's I mean the library I could.
02:21I I order up a pool as well.
02:24Yeah, you can take a library book to
02:26the pool and cool down on both fronts.
02:29How about that? Perfect love it.
02:31Just don't put it in the water.
02:33You're going to have to pay for it
02:35if you put it in the water.
