00:00A college football game will be played this week in fact for featuring an FBS

00:08school on Saturday. It is week zero. It is not as great of a week zero slate

00:14around CFB as we have seen even a start the last few seasons in the sport but it

00:21is still college football. This is the week of August 19th 2024. A college

00:29football game will be played each and every week for the next 23 consecutive

00:35weeks until a week that begins on January 27th 2025. The new and expanded

00:43college football playoff a national title game 22 nights or 22 weeks from

00:50tonight on Monday January 20th. It is the largest college football season we have

00:56ever seen. It is the longest. It has so many sweeping changes across the climate

01:01and the landscape and it starts on Saturday in Ireland. How is your

01:08preseason magazine reading going my friend? Yeah just taking a look more like

01:13getting eyes on the prize which means this weekend having these magazines sort

01:17of come to life like oh this guy is returning this guy's gonna be a new wide

01:21receiver who's trying to break in is that starting running back here because

01:24there are so many things they have to worry about now through later in the

01:27week I was looking at the fans of sports book this morning not very many player

01:30props out including that Florida State Georgia Tech game but it's always

01:33intriguing to me we never quite know the scenarios that will play out heavy run

01:37heavy pass starting quarterback that's going to play and even starting

01:41running backs down the list so it's always fun to see these first couple

01:44games okay I've been reading about these players all offseason let's see

01:47them go out there and produce because for my money Georgia Tech starting

01:51quarterback coming back starting running back coming back that's fine but Florida

01:54State right even though they're expected to be a good good football team

01:56we haven't seen a lot of these kids in that starting role just yet yeah it's

02:01going to be a different FSU team there was so much regression and change and

02:06turnover as was represented in the Orange Bowl where a lot of the guys that

02:11left for the National Football League did not play now that's the story for

02:16FSU but a familiar name in ACC country and around college football is going to

02:22be the starting quarterback that's DJ Uyunglele for FSU now transferring back

02:27to the ACC after a few seasons at Oregon State or at least one year at Oregon

02:34State after he started his college career at Clemson Roydale Williams

02:38talented back for Alabama a season ago is in the backfield no rushing props out

02:43just yet we'll talk about that in our breakdown but let's give you the early

02:47line here on the early lines for the ACC opener in Ireland between 10th ranked

02:53Florida State and Georgia Tech line was 12 and a half just last week working

02:58back to the Yellow Jackets ever so slightly but still in double digits 11

03:03and a half points in favor of the Noles the over-under as you see there for the

03:08Irish opener 55 and a hook as Donnie mentioned Haynes King starting

03:13quarterback in Atlanta is back for Georgia Tech a team under Brent Key who

03:18took over as the interim in 2022 and went 4 and 4 who reached a bowl game a

03:24season ago has been pretty darn good and Donnie great as an underdog a season ago

03:317 and 2 against the spread as an underdog were the Jackets the look to

03:35ride that momentum to the start of 2024 in Dublin also and you take a look at

03:40these two football teams the last time they took the field Florida State didn't

03:44even show up for the bowl game against Georgia quite frankly Georgia had

03:47nothing to play for and wipe the map with them but if we're looking forward

03:50to something sort of a springboard which a lot of teams using their bowl games

03:53you had a victory last year over UCF for Georgia Tech that sort of got that all

03:57season going and if there is something to be said about returning starters back

04:01you take a look at you know a couple decent players coming back from Georgia

04:04Tech but it always starts with the quarterback comfortability in the pocket

04:06at a decent season last year how can you extend it with another offseason this

04:10year that's what I'm looking forward to so I do agree with the line movement

04:13from 12 and a half to 11 and a half but the one thing that we can't measure DJ

04:17we uncle LA coming over we know he's a good quarterback he's been around the

04:21block that's a veteran presence here and the reason why he went from Clemson to

04:24Oregon State was look it's not working out at Clemson like I just can't like

04:27pass the football that well he actually was a pretty good passer at Oregon State

04:31and if that transfers over to Florida State you know that offense is going to

04:34be able to move the football and also that angle of we got embarrassed in that

04:38last game let's go and show it was just the players that left and not the

04:41downfall of a program so expecting a performance out of Florida State but I

04:45said as I said I do agree the 12 and a half at FanDuel down to the 11 and a

04:49half I do think that makes a lot of sense here look I don't really know too

04:52much about these teams until I watch them actually play but if I'm gonna lean

04:56towards the points it's probably gonna be me with Georgia Tech in this one yeah

05:00so here's where I'm going to look from the betting perspective I think Florida

05:03State makes a statement to start the year it is not the downfall of a program

05:07because of the 60-point blowout in the Orange Bowl a lot of people will look to

05:12what FSU did after they felt and I believe rightfully so were left out of

05:16the college football playoff Florida State has won double-digit games now

05:20under Mike Norvell at a point he was a little bit on a warm seat in Tallahassee

05:25he is reinvigorated this program the favorites to win the ACC ranked in the

05:31top ten to start a season in the AP preseason poll and a team that I believe

05:35is going to win the ACC and reach the college football playoff this year in

05:39the first year of 12 again I believe in Georgia Tech they are going to be a

05:44thorn in the side of many ACC foes throughout this year six and a half to

05:49win total for the Yellow Jackets expected to flirt with ball eligibility

05:53for a second straight year but Georgia Tech I don't believe is of the caliber

05:58of Florida State and I know that year over year offseason offseason getting

06:03ready for a new season you have to make those adjustments and I believe they

06:06will on the defensive side of the football but Georgia Tech was one of the

06:09five worst rushing defenses in all of the sport at the FPS level next year

06:15again when the props come out right L Williams the transfer running back from

06:19Alabama will be an area I look to go over a rushing yards prop to start off

06:23this season it makes sense and also from those first games here it's gonna be

06:27more of an aerial attack and also if the game was played in Florida what are we

06:30looking at that 85 to 90 degree temperatures over there in Dublin will

06:33be in the 60s it's a little bit cooler weather and both of these teams sort of

06:37outside of their environment but still playing an ACC football game there's

06:41gonna be no let's just say the crowd is gonna be too loud I can't hear myself

06:44which usually lends it to a little bit better offensive performance because

06:47theoretically nobody is really the away team here getting all that much noise

06:50from a certain direction it'll be fun to watch it play out to marquee teams per

06:54se because they're in the ACC and we'll see how it works out but at least it's

06:57not a 27 and a half point spread like you see from SMU and Nevada this one

07:02should be a good one and it's the first one of the day which is always nice

07:05three ACC teams in action the SMU Mustangs now a member of the Atlantic

07:11Coast Conference Nevada has won only two games each of the past two years and

07:16we're all staying up till midnight Hawaii and Delaware State as well out on

07:20the islands more on the early line up now
