00:00But let's begin with the big news in sports betting yesterday, a reversal, a walk back,

00:09a let's try this again by DraftKings.

00:13My goodness, the backlash ended up working.

00:16The company decided that they are not going to tax sports bettors out of their winnings

00:22at a percent or less.

00:24They make this announcement yesterday official, and ironically, just before FanDuel does their

00:32earnings call.

00:33So they may have gotten word that FanDuel was going to say, we're not going to do this.

00:38I don't know that that's the case.

00:39I'm being sort of cryptic here, cynical.

00:43But needless to say, folks, we've been covering this story about DraftKings saying, hey, look,

00:48we're going to take a little bit of money out of your winnings because we're not happy

00:51with the amount of money we're getting taxed.

00:53And then a couple of weeks later, they say, nah, we're not going to do that.

00:56That's it.

00:57Why?

00:58Well, because you could pick another sports book.

00:59DraftKings made the right decision after making the wrong decision here, to say the least.

01:04OK, first round quarterback J.J. McCarthy taken by the Minnesota Vikings.

01:08Thought process was he'll start at some point during the season, if not week one.

01:12It is not going to be week one.

01:14Kevin O'Connell made the announcement yesterday.

01:16J.J. McCarthy out of Michigan has a torn meniscus and is going to miss time.

01:23Now, again, he hasn't had the surgery yet.

01:25Once he does, then we'll get a full timetable.

01:29But naturally, he played so well at the University of Michigan, vaulted his draft status all

01:34the way up to the first round and was battling with Sam Darnold for the starting job.

01:39But O'Connell yesterday telling the media in a very somber way, to say the least, that

01:44he is going to have to miss some time.

01:47It has been determined that J.J. does have a tear in his meniscus, in his right knee.

01:56He will need to undergo a procedure that will hopefully take place in the near future here.

02:07Don't have a timeline on that, but as far as the timeline of the injury, that will be

02:12something determined during the procedure based upon whether it can just be a cleanup

02:19or potentially a repair.

02:21That won't be able to be determined until that procedure takes place.

02:27So I really would just be speculating on a timeline for a return at this point.

02:32Yeah, as I said, post-game, I thought Sam played really well in his 12 plays of work

02:39the other day.

02:40And really what that was, Kevin, was just a continued pretty consistent performance

02:45from what we've seen on the practice field throughout training camp.

02:49Sam's had a really good camp and my confidence level on Sam is very, very high.

02:53I'm really looking forward to Sam's continued growth, success in the offense.

02:59And I know his teammates and the rest of the coaching staff have been really enthused by

03:03what Sam's done.

03:05And like I said, my confidence level is really high on Sam.

03:09All right.

03:10Well, the Vikings go into the season with Sam Darnold, fourth team, by the way, for

03:15Sam Darnold and fourth time he's going to get an opportunity to start on a different

03:18team in the National Football League.

03:20Meanwhile, Brandon Ayuk, you may have heard his name in the NFL over the last couple of

03:24weeks about potentially being traded, some speculated to the Pittsburgh Steelers, some

03:29other teams as well.

03:31You see some fake billboards being posted in Pittsburgh welcoming him also.

03:35Social media has loved this story.

03:38But the bottom line, there's still no deal.

03:39I mean, this is even coming from Ian Rappaport yesterday.

03:43It sort of felt like maybe a deal was coming.

03:45Still no deal as well.

03:46I mean, there just hasn't been a single accurate report on Brandon Ayuk this offseason.

03:51I think that's just the best way to say it.

03:53All right.

03:54Browns make an announcement just 20 minutes ago.

03:56They've extended Pro Bowl linebacker Jeremiah Owosu-Karamoa.

04:01And he finally got his contract that he was looking for out of Notre Dame.

04:04Under one tackles, three and a half sacks, six pass deflections, two interceptions for

04:08the Cleveland Browns and that great defense that they have going into the season.

04:12All right.

04:13Jamar Chase missed the team's first practice.

04:16And naturally, he's got to be there.

04:18And who knows if he's going to get fined or not.

04:19He's looking for a new contract.

04:21First time in training camp, Chase actually not even present as the team was practicing.

04:26He's looking for a new deal.

04:27Zach Taylor, the head coach, said he is day to day.

04:30We'll take it one day at a time.

04:31We know the deal.

04:32And Chris Brown, who's running the show on July, said that it was unlikely he would get

04:36a new contract extension.

04:38So we'll see about this drama.

04:42How about Texas' offseason and their training camp?

04:45As they get ready for their first game of the season, they've lost another starting

04:48running back.

04:49Christian Clark is now out for the season.

04:51He had an injury in practice.

04:53He'll undergo knee surgery.

04:55So they're going to turn to another running back.

04:59And Jaden Blue played 23 games with them, 431 yards, 4 touchdowns, 4 catches, 45 yards

05:06in the college football playoff semifinals.

05:08So look for him to be the primary ball carrier for Texas.

05:12Also Mike Hall Jr., defensive tackle for the Cleveland Browns.

05:16Disturbing story last night, being charged with domestic violence in Avon, Ohio, allegedly

05:21threatening a woman with a gun on Monday night, arrested and booked.

05:25And his bond is set at $10,000 hearing set for next month.

05:28Bonte Adams back at practice after the birth of his son, he is, of course, still with the

05:33Las Vegas Raiders.

05:34Speaking of rumors, he was going other places, who knows?

05:36Three-time All-Pro Raiders, by the way, still haven't figured out who their starting quarterback

05:41is going to be with the battle going on right now.

05:44Maybe Kevin O'Connell ends up, Aiden O'Connell ends up starting for them.

05:55The bad news at the start was that Jazz Chisholm Jr. is likely headed to the injured list with

05:59an UCL injury.

06:02And naturally, this could go a number of different ways.

06:05Either rest and rehab, and you may see him again this year.

06:07If it's surgery, you will not.

06:10No determination as of yet, although the Yankees did bounce back last night against the White

06:15Sox.

06:16And guess who?

06:17Juan Soto.

06:18How much money can they pay Juan Soto in the offseason?

06:19I don't know.

06:25Meanwhile, former Yankee, Michael King, who was traded for Juan Soto, how about that,

06:38He'll make his second minor league rehab start on Thursday, and then hopes to join the rotation

06:43for the remainder of the season.

06:45He'll throw 70 to 75 pitches in this latest rehab, and then of course, can go 80, 90 in

06:49the next one.

06:50And then the Dodgers have another elbow injury.

06:52Are you kidding me?

06:53River Ryan, who was so good for them, 1-0, 1.33 home run average and four starts, is

06:59going to have Tommy John surgery, and is in all likelihood going to miss a full year of

07:03major league baseball.

07:04Walker Bueller has been out with a separate injury as well.

07:06All right, good news if you live in Missouri and you like to bet on sports, because there's

07:11a chance you may be able to do it legally.

07:13We haven't legalized, like, any states this year.

07:16It's been really quiet, but Missouri sports betting is headed to the ballot in November.

07:21As of now, it's the only state with this happening.

07:24So look for a resolution with Missouri betting coming soon.

07:30Conor McGregor was supposed to fight before the end of the year, and he was going to fight

07:35this guy, Michael Chandler.

07:37That's not going to happen.

07:38Dana White said no Conor McGregor fighting for UFC this year.

07:43Jim Harbaugh was invited to be the captain honorary for the University of Michigan opener

07:49as they start off their season.

07:51He declined that invitation, so he will not do it.

07:55And meanwhile, Vinicius Jr. has reportedly been offered $1 billion to play for a club

08:02in Saudi Arabia, which means if he accepts it, one of the best in the world, $4.2 million

08:11per week.

08:12I mean, it feels like that can't even be right.

08:16$4.2 million per week, $600,000 a day, $25,000 an hour, and $416 a minute.

08:26So he will rival the contract of our director Luke here on the show.
