00:20Okay, first of all, what is this Bayanugan? Am I saying it right? Bayanugan, like Bayanihan Project.

00:32Yes, we have this Bayanugan Nationwide Coconut Planting now.
00:37But Bayanugan means the PCA's trust and way of honoring our coconut farmers in all our programs
00:45and projects, putting them as the center and the object of our endeavors.
00:53So, it started with the concept of a whole-of-nation approach in revitalizing the coconut industry
01:01with the theme of Bayaniyugan Kaisa Ako, which means all of us, including our participants,
01:09supporters, will have to support wholeheartedly, aka Bayaniyugan.
01:18Ma'am Rossella, where will this Nationwide Coconut Planting take place?
01:24And what is the target of your agency to plant Bayaniyugan in the entire Philippines?
01:30Is the PCA planning to do this every year starting this year, 2024?
01:36Yes, this coconut planting will take place in all regions
01:44because the PCA has set a target of planting 100 million coconuts.
01:51And until August, we are targeting to have 3 million coconuts being planted.
02:00So, for the whole year of 2024, we target 8.5 million and that is the target every year.
02:10And every month, if our partners need to plant, we will plant until 2028.
02:19Our target is 25 million coconuts planted.
02:25Ma'am Rossella, I will just go back because we are number two in the production of Bayaniyugan in the whole world,
02:33second in Indonesia.
02:35After this, will we regain our status as the number one producer of coconuts?
02:47In terms of area, Indonesia is bigger.
02:51So, with this coconut planting project, we are sure that our production will grow.
02:57But as to being number one and number two, it is also subject to the coconut planting of our neighboring country, Indonesia.
03:09But what we can assure is that we would like to maintain our position as the number one coconut oil producer in the world.
03:19For now, we are only at 50% capacity of our oil millers and other coconut processors.
03:28So, if we increase our production, we can double and ensure that we will be number one in the exports of coconut products, particularly coconut oil.

03:48We can see the famous coconut oil in the grocery, but it is also included in the current trends like VCO, MCT, MCT, MCT, yes, yes.

04:43So, if we double our production, of course, our export earnings will also increase, our jobs to be generated will also increase, and we will contribute to food security.
04:59And it will provide a lot of opportunities for our coconut farmers in the area of value-adding and enterprise development so that their livelihoods will be sustained.

05:25This is open, and in fact, the authority is calling for the participation of our potential partners like the academe, the LGU, and all the private sector because we really need support.

06:08So, every August is known as Coconut Month. What activities is the PCA preparing for this month for this celebration?
06:19Yes, every last week of August is declared as National Coconut Week by Proclamation 142, Series 1987.
06:29So, for this year, we have a culinary presentation that will be held at the Philippine Coconut Authority, Electrical Road, Diliman, Quezon City, and all over the country.
06:43Also, we have a simultaneous national coconut planting that will be held in different provinces and regions.
06:53And then, on August 29 to 30, we also have a symposium on the coconut benefits that will be held at the Philippine International Convention Center in Pasay City.
07:09We will inform the invited and even the public, to be live-streamed, what are the benefits and advantages of using coconut products, both food and non-food.
07:23Because our coconut products are mainly sold abroad, but we want the Filipinos to also enjoy the benefits of the coconut, and that's just the initial.
07:38And after that event, we have a recognition of the different coconut industry stakeholders because we want the best practices to be practiced by all of our farmers and processors.
07:57So, we will recognize them so that they will be encouraged to implement or adapt to their farms and processing plants.
