Kenya, Germany dual TVET policy in its final stage

German Ambassador to Kenya Sebastian Groth on Wednesday said the two countries will sign a labor migration and mobility agreement which will facilitate TVET students to migrate to Germany.

00:00The dual Tibet policy is now in its final stage at the Ministry of Education and will soon be

00:05submitted to the Cabinet for review and approval, and we are optimistic that the approval process

00:10will be expedited to encourage more industries and to invest in training and development

00:15of the youth in Kenya. Ladies and gentlemen, today at this 100th university we take a moment

00:21to reflect and celebrate the substantial impact of Kenya's Tibet sector and what it has achieved,

00:27and I extend my heartfelt congratulations to the government and also to the president

00:33personally because he told me once as a minister for education you pushed for it and you said it

00:40was a hard work because at this time 10-20 years ago it was not en vogue as we say but now we see

00:47what you have achieved and I congratulate you personally for this. So as we look to the future

00:55labor migration is emerging as an important aspect in the German-Kenyan relations

01:00and my colleagues from KfW and GIZ already told me that at the booth, the stand of these

01:08institutions, the main questions from students are going into this direction. How can we go to

01:13Germany? How can we get a job in Germany? And I have good news in this regard because we are

01:20in a few days from now, a few weeks from now, mid-September will sign a labor migration and

01:27mobility agreement between Kenya and Germany that will facilitate skilled labor migration

01:34to Germany and I'm very proud to say that this agreement is the first agreement that Germany

01:43negotiated with a partner and it will be the first agreement that will be signed with a partner.

01:54So we believe that a strong Tibet sector is the key to driving economic growth and creating

01:59opportunities for all. As your partner in skills training we reaffirm our commitment and support

02:06to enhance the quality of education, to promote innovation and to ensure

02:10that the skills imparted aligned with the needs of the labor market.

02:15It is first of all an investment in the youth, in the next generation and of the economic

02:21opportunities of this country and I think in the last weeks and months we have seen

02:26the power of the youth in this country.
