Community health promoters to aid in SHIF registration - Public Health PS - video Dailymotion

Public Health PS Mary Muthoni on Monday said the Social Health Insurance registration drive will be primarily done by community health promoters.

00:00I see HP as an exposure of a hundred households and they are very critical because their work,

00:08they move from door to door.

00:11They are able to find people in their households, they are able to find people in their comfort zones

00:16and they are able to explain to them, take notes and explain to them

00:20why it is important to register with the social health authority.

00:25And in the long run, explain the benefits as to why they need,

00:30each and every Kenyan must be registered for social health authority.

00:35One thing that we must know is with NHIF we used to have only 20% of the Kenyan population

00:43benefiting from the fund.

00:45However, right now we are targeting 100% of registration because nobody will be left behind.

00:53Even those people who cannot afford, they are going to be catered for by the government.

01:00They must be able to register so that the government will pay for them.

01:04And that is why our CHPs in collaboration equally with the Ministry of Interior,

01:10the National Administration, the county governments are going to be very critical

01:15to ensure we reach each and every Kenyan in every corner of this country.
