Community health promoters storm Uasin Gishu county offices demand delayed pay

Over 2,000 community health promoters stormed the Uasin Gishu county offices demanding their delayed 10 months pay amounting to more than Sh50 million.

00:00We are grateful to His Excellency the President, because he looked at us and started this movement

00:18of community health promoters, level one doctors.

00:22The thing that brought us here to Wasingishu County, thanks to the launch of community health promoters

00:32in Kiriju up to date, there is no stipend that we have been given by the county government.

00:38The national government has paid us up to one month, two months.

00:44The county government of Wasingishu, they have not paid us at a single cent.

00:50We have been protesting, but we are telling stories here and there.

00:54Today, the boss told us that we wanted to go and greet our governor.

00:58I briefed him and I wrote a message that we are coming today at 5pm,

01:04we will be at your office at 2pm,

01:07so that he can show us a way forward.

01:09Because these people that we have here in Wasingishu,

01:13they are not alone.

01:15Because if they were here, we would not have been in the same situation we are in now.

01:20Because, one, we were given kits.

01:23The kits were taken about seven months before they were trained.

01:27Then we were given drugs.

01:29We were given drugs, and then it took seven months before they were trained.

01:34We have a fever.

01:36Now that we are at home, we would not have been able to help them.

01:40They were not trained in time,

01:44so they had to go and receive pressure from the government.

01:49That is why we are now coming to the county government to ask for our rights.
