Southport knife attack a 'devastating nightmare', say residents

Local residents described a "devastating nightmare" on Tuesday (July 30) after a knife attack in northwest England left three children dead, and five others critically injured.  A 17-year-old male is in police custody on suspicion of murder and attempted murder after the incident at the "Taylor Swift yoga and dance workshop" in Southport, north of Liverpool, a summer vacation event for children aged from six to 11 on Monday morning. 00:56You know it's so shocking, we're in a seaside town, children should be able to enjoy their

01:02summer holidays and the beginning of it, this tragedy has happened and it's just so utterly,

01:07you can't describe in words how upsetting it is.

01:10I seen it, it came through yesterday afternoon and I just followed it, it got worse and worse

01:16and worse.

01:17As soon as I seen it, there was stabbing, because I come round here all the time on

01:21my bike and I saw two children killed and I just couldn't believe it.

01:25Merseyside Police said the motive was unclear, but said they were not looking for anyone

01:30else in connection with the stabbings.
