00:00Israel's Prime Minister is continuing his tour of the US. He met with President Biden

00:06and Kamala Harris on Thursday as pro-Palestinian protesters gathered outside the White House

00:12condemning his arrival. But unlike Joe Biden, the US Vice President and presidential candidate

00:18adopted a firmer tone with Netanyahu when discussing Israel's war in Gaza.

00:25What has happened in Gaza over the past nine months is devastating. The images of dead

00:30children and desperate, hungry people fleeing for safety, sometimes displaced for the second,

00:39third or fourth time. We cannot look away in the face of these tragedies. We cannot

00:46allow ourselves to become numb to the suffering and I will not be silent.

00:53Kamala Harris pushed Benjamin Netanyahu to reach a Gaza ceasefire deal that could end

00:58the suffering of the Palestinian people. There has been hopeful movement in the talks to

01:02secure an agreement on this deal. And as I just told Prime Minister Netanyahu, it is

01:08time to get this deal done. A contrasting scene to Joe Biden's meeting where the two

01:14leaders celebrated the US's long-term loyalty to Israel. Mr President, we've known each

01:18other for 40 years and you've known every Israeli Prime Minister for 50 years, from

01:24Golda Meir. So from a proud Jewish Zionist to a proud Irish-American Zionist, I want

01:32to thank you for 50 years of public service and 50 years of support for the state of Israel.

01:38Netanyahu is heading to Florida this Friday where he will meet Donald Trump. The former

01:43President and Republican presidential candidate has long supported Israel and its Prime Minister.

01:48The Republican members of parliament cheered Benjamin Netanyahu during his high-profile

01:53speech in Congress on Wednesday, whilst 60 Democrats boycotted him. Though Trump had

01:59broken off his relations with Netanyahu back in 2021, the Israeli Prime Minister is trying

02:04to rekindle the old bond between them. But Donald Trump is already tempering his stance,

02:10calling on Israel to quickly end the fighting in Gaza.
