Loughgall Minor section manager spoke to the News Letter after their 2-2 draw against USSSA Select in the SuperCupNI.

00:00Samuel, many thanks for joining us, 2-2 draw this afternoon, what was your thoughts on

00:05the game then?

00:06Yeah, it was an entertaining one, I think we started quite well, the first ten minutes

00:10went really well and then obviously we got hit in the counter attack and we conceded

00:13one for just the edge of the box so it was a disappointing one that way but they kept

00:16going to be fair really well, won the penalty and then some free kick as well to go in 2-1

00:21and then obviously just disappointing again towards the end of it, we conceded another

00:25penalty and yeah it goes in half time with 2-2 but the first half were really really

00:30good, I thought we played well, dominated the ball really well, we had runners in behind,

00:33footwork was good so everything was really positive, took them in half time, mood was

00:37good and then came back out and it was the exact same thing, I think we battered them

00:41for half an hour again like they didn't really get out of their half and we just couldn't

00:45get the ball across the line with two stonewall penalties turned down, an offside goal that

00:50the boy saves over the line and all this sort of stuff going on so it's in credit to them

00:54because they were brilliant, they've been with the massages out there this morning and

00:58some of them are sure as anything but they've dug deep there, they've been really really

01:01good, four points from the first two days is some achievement so far.

01:04Yeah you mentioned the four points, you've played a Scottish team, you've played the

01:08Glymptoran from Northern Ireland, you've played an American team and playing those different

01:11styles will obviously help in the development.

01:13Yeah it's brilliant, it's some week for them, we're so used to playing always the same couple

01:18of teams all season and for those now to come and play away for a week away from home to

01:23get to go and play against Celtic and then to get to play against an American team and

01:28then against Glymptoran, we probably couldn't have picked a better group, this is exactly

01:31what we were hoping for, where we can get a local team and then Celtic with a big draw

01:35and obviously today and so far it's been brilliant, it's been a brilliant week for them in terms

01:38of style of play and stuff, getting to play against different people they don't know as

01:42well it's been brilliant.

01:43And look you need to see who you'll play tomorrow but what are you looking to get out of the

01:46last two days then?

01:47Yeah I think we said ourselves at the start of the week that we're here to win something,

01:49we're here to win a trophy, there's no point coming up here, yes it's a brilliant week

01:53away and it's a brilliant experience for them but we're still here to play football,

01:56we're still here to win games and ultimately our aim for the rest of the week is can we

02:00go and win a trophy?

02:01No matter whether we go into the second place one, the third place one, depending on the

02:03results, we're here to win something and that's where the mentality of the boys in there,

02:07they're disappointed but it's now we dust ourselves down, we go again tomorrow, we don't

02:10have time to hang about, it's can we go now and win a semi-final tomorrow and hopefully

02:15we get to play against another foreign team.

02:17And finally you're staying in Ballintoy, what's that been like now?

02:21Yeah it's been a good crack, the boys have been up, it hasn't been too bad time and ways

02:24getting to bed but we've been in round the beach, there's some setting round here where

02:28we've got the harbour and stuff we can walk down to, get in the water and then obviously

02:31they make the games and stuff locally to us as well, we've been out watching a match or

02:34two every night, we've been up round the beach, we've been out just entertaining them and

02:38I'd say it's been some crack, we've loved it so far.
