Passed Medical Act amendments will be implemented ‘as soon as possible’ while the timeline is being worked out, said Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad.  The Health Minister said he will defend the amended act together with his deputy in the upcoming Dewan Negara sitting.  he said when asked whether the bill can be implemented this year during a press conference held in Institut Jantung Negara on Monday (22 July). 02:55without me the opportunity to articulate and enumerate what the mechanics of doing it and establishing it.

03:06But I think you surely would understand that I've got to present the entire thing of Health Financing Transformation

03:13to get the wholesome, end-to-end kind of understanding of this.

03:19But be that as it may, we already are engaging all important stakeholders like our Ministry of Finance,

03:28MK2, Bank Nugara, the EPF, even the private sectors, even the bursas.

03:36We have been engaging very intensely, making them understand where we're coming from,

03:44that the National Health Trust Fund is actually beyond just what is from the consolidated fund or the tax sources.

03:57Mobilising other sources of funding as well.

04:00So that is as much as I could say.

04:03That would be, at the end of the day, to pluck all the inefficient spending,

04:08as I mentioned particularly on OOP, remember, out-of-pocket expenditure is high.

04:15But beyond that as well, it's mobilising all the entire sources of funding for healthcare expenditure.

04:22So be a little bit more patient for you to get the entire, I wouldn't say blueprint,

04:29I'm talking about the whole idea, simply put, the whole idea.
