This Saturday is the penultimate stage of the Tour de France, a short punishing route with almost
00:05
4,800 meters of elevation. On Friday, Taddei Pogacar continues his domination of the race
00:13
in the Alps with just nine kilometers to go in the stage. He made his attack and made up almost
00:19
three minutes to catch and pass American Matteo Jorgensen. Pogacar won his fourth stage, substantially
00:26
extending his overall lead. James Messina has more on what to expect this Saturday.
00:33
Well, after his monumental victory yesterday, Taddei Pogacar said that he'll be letting the
00:38
breakaway group take the lead and he'll be from what we can expect, cycling his way nice and
00:42
easily up to the Col de la Couillole. Not an easy stage to come today. There are some big climbs,
00:47
maybe not quite as big as yesterday's ones, but still 4,600 meters for the riders to go up in
00:54
total. So Taddei Pogacar will be holding on to that steady lead. He's got over five minutes
00:59
over Jonas Vingegaard, last year's winner, which all he needs to do now is just keep that lead
01:03
to be able to win the Tour nice and comfortably. But this might be a chance for the Belgian Remco
01:08
Evenpool to jump ahead of last year's winner. Today's stage might be his last opportunity to do
01:13
so. So in those climbs, Remco Evenpool will be trying to get ahead and perhaps we'll see
01:18
the likes of Jorgensen as yesterday or Carapaz, who will be wearing that polka dot jersey,
01:22
to also go and win that stage. It's going to be one not then for Pogacar, but perhaps we'll get
01:26
a new name or a familiar name who will be winning that stage today as we make our way back up into
01:31
the Auxerre to the High Alps here in the south of France. This before tomorrow's time trial,
01:35
which will be taking place along the coast from Monaco to Nice.
