Clinical officers call off their three-month strike

00:00We began our strike on 1st of April after 7 days strike notice which was issued on 25th of March.

00:10We have been on strike until today, where now today by virtue of signing this return to work,

00:20we are officially declaring that our strike has come to an end

00:28and our members shall resume duty in their respective place of work

00:36starting today and not later than 24 hours from the date herein.

00:42We want to ask the Council of Governors that we, the clinical officers, are your complement, not your enemy.

00:48We can work together to better the service of our people

00:52and to ensure for us when we are there, we are only asking for accountability or for enhancement of the existing laws.

00:59And we want to allow us third space and we are workers together because we know there are things that we can do better.

01:07We as the Union, we do not celebrate this situation of going on strike.

01:15We always desire that we can be on the table to engage and agree to iron issues which are there

01:24because at the end of the day there must be issues.

01:27But we want to believe that this then marks a new beginning

01:33because some of the issues that we had on our strike notice are issues that date back in 2017,

01:40issues of promotion and re-designation where members have stagnated in one job group without any promotion.

01:48There are issues of the CBN that we started also negotiating in 2017

01:54until 2019 when we were not able to agree.

01:59But we are happy that at least we are taking an agreement that indeed this can be addressed.

02:04We have come to an agreement and we have with us a framework

02:08that within around 60 days we will be able to address the issues that we raised in our strike notice and that is a good thing.

02:19So what we have is a framework as I have said that provides for how we are going to sit down

02:27and negotiate, agree on each and every item in the CBN and in the demands that we presented.
