Watch as Olivia Blake talks climate change next steps after being re-elected in Sheffield Hallam

Labour's Olivia Blake retained her seat in Sheffield Hallam by a significant margin after the General Election.  It was despite Sky News predicting the constituency was 97% likely to go to the Lib Dems rather than Labour.  She discusses this and climate change with Harry Harrison.

00:00Excellent, well done. Hi Olivia, congratulations.

00:05Thank you very much.

00:06How are you feeling?

00:07I'm feeling so proud of my campaign team and just overwhelmed with the faith that my constituents

00:14have put in me to stand and be their MP for the next five years hopefully.

00:19It's been a real privilege to represent Sheffield Hallam over the last four and a half years

00:23and I'm really excited to do that but this time with the Labour government where we can

00:27really get on with the change that this country is desperately calling out for.

00:31Awesome, and I know over the course of a count this afternoon a big national broadcaster

00:35who basically said that it was a done deal and it wasn't going to go the way it went

00:39in the end. How do you, while you're waiting for the result like that, keep your head up

00:43and keep believing when a respected broadcaster like that is saying it's the end of the game?

00:47Well if you look back to 2019 Sheffield Hallam tends to book the trend so I didn't really

00:54take it too seriously when I saw that exit poll because I knew on the ground from talking

00:59to people that people here are desperate for change, they wanted that Labour government

01:03and they wanted to give us that opportunity in order to make the changes that they want

01:07to see. We've got a big challenge ahead but we're up to the task.

01:11And I know over the time you've been in office so far you've made it a very big mission of

01:16yours to urge governments to combat climate change. How are you aiming to continue doing

01:21that over the next five years?

01:23Well I'm really looking forward to working with Ed Miliband and his team to push for

01:27the climate change action that we need. We needed to start yesterday and I know that

01:32Ed and his whole team are going to be right at the forefront of that and he's been talking

01:37this week about being climate leaders globally again which I think is really exciting and

01:41something that I want to be part of.
