Therefore, I give notice that Maree Tickle is duly elected as Member of Parliament of
01:49
the Penistone and Stocksbridge Constituencies.
01:52
I would like to give the first of my congratulations to Maree Tickle and invite her for a short speech.
02:08
I want to thank the returning officer, the people counting here tonight and the police
02:12
for the great job you have all done.
02:14
Thank you too to my fellow candidates in the Outgoing MP, Myriam Cates, for conducting
02:19
their campaigns with civility.
02:22
Politics can be different.
02:24
Politics can be better.
02:27
Most of all, I want to thank you, the wonderful people of our beautiful, special constituency,
02:34
for putting your trust in me.
02:37
For those who may not have voted for me, I will work hard to be a strong voice for all
02:42
our communities here and in Westminster.
02:45
It's time to end the chaos and start to rebuild our country together.
02:54
To know hope once again.
02:58
I also want to thank my fabulous family, our fantastic, hard-working campaign team and
03:04
my Honourable Agent, Matt Dwyer.
03:11
Winning here, the vote today, is a vote for a Labour Party focused on the priorities of
03:17
working people.
03:19
In 1984, a brave girl was born in Boundary Hospital.
03:24
No one knew how long she'd live for or what operations she might lead.
03:29
Her communities nurtured her growing up.
03:32
World-class NHS care at Boundary and Sheffield Children's Hospital enabled her to walk and
03:38
follow her ambitions.
03:39
Her local state education in Pedistin helped her catch up and go on to university to fulfil
03:47
her potential.
03:49
That baby girl was me.
03:51
Almost 40 years later to the week, it is the honour of my life that our communities have
03:58
elected me to be our Member of Parliament for Pedistin and Southbridge.
04:08
I'm the first person in over 100 years to have grown up in our constituency to go on
04:15
to represent it as our MP.
04:18
Our communities gave me so much.
04:20
It will be a great privilege to use my skills and experiences to give back to the place
04:26
that made me.
04:27
As your MP, I'll work hard to ensure that people growing up here and growing old here
04:33
have the same opportunities I had.
04:35
I'll work hard for economic stability, cheaper bills, safer streets, getting the NHS back
04:41
on its feet, secure borders, better opportunities for our children and tackling our climate
04:46
and nature crisis.
04:48
Labour government changed my life.
04:52
Thank you for voting for change today.
04:55
It's our job now to deliver that change and get our country's future back.
