Over 15,000 prank calls are made to emergency response services each month, says Deputy Communications Minister Teo Nie Ching.  However, Teo said the number recorded this year was a significant improvement compared to 2022, which saw over 31,000 pranks calls per month. 00:00One more thing I would like to share with you is about prank calls.

00:06We can see that there are still a lot of prank calls.

00:09In one month, MERS-999 will still receive around 15,000 to 16,000 prank calls per month.

00:18But the number has actually decreased.

00:21Because if we compare it to 2022, where the number of prank calls per month is around 31,000.

00:31Last year, the number has decreased to 19,000 per month.

00:37And for this year, the average is around 15,000.

00:41But it's still higher.

00:43So I would like to advise Malaysians.

00:46MERS-999 is for emergency situations.

00:50And we want to make sure that those who are in an emergency situation.

00:56Don't waste their time.

00:59So I hope that all Malaysians.

01:01We can see that the number of prank calls has decreased.

01:05But for me, in one month, 15,000 prank calls per month is still higher.

01:11So I hope that all Malaysians.

01:15Let us not waste our resources.

01:18Because if there are police members who go there.

01:21PDRL or bombers who send people there.

01:25But they only feel that it's a prank call.

01:27That is a waste of resources.
