00:00The High Court has denied former Nungiri Assemblyman Azizi Abunai's application for a temporary

00:07injunction to halt the by-election for the state seat.

00:11Judicial Commissioner Rose Mawarazain said the court could not restrain the election

00:16commission from holding the upcoming by-election as it was exercising its constitutional duty.

00:22The court also said there would not be any irreparable harm to Azizi if the interim injunction

00:28is dismissed as he could still participate in the by-election as a candidate.

00:32Earlier this week, Azizi filed a suit to challenge his purported sacking by Bersatu as well as

00:37the vacancy of the Nungiri state seat.

00:40Bersatu said Azizi's membership ceased after he failed to declare his loyalty to the party

00:45and due to his continued support for Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim's administration.

00:50Azizi, who is also a Guam Mozang MP, is among six Bersatu MPs who have pledged support for

00:55Anwar.

00:57The others are Syed Abu Hussein Hafiz Syed Abdul Fasal, Dr Zukauf Peri Hanapi, Zahary

01:03Kecik, Iskandar Zukainain Abdul Khalid, and Suhaili Abdul Rahman.
