00:18President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. ordered to study the existence of a legal department of the Philippine National Police.

00:26The purpose is to protect the police against harassment and accusations.

00:31In the 2nd Command Conference of the Philippine National Police in Campo Crame,

00:34President Marcos ordered that the legal department will serve as a defense council of police officers who are facing various complaints.

00:42President Marcos said that the rights of the police cannot be ignored,

00:46especially the ordinary policemen and policewomen who cannot afford a lawyer or legal advice.

00:52President Marcos also supports the plan of the Philippine National Police to implement the right-sizing of their officers

00:58to maximize the police force and police visibility in the country.

01:03DILG Secretary Benur Avalos Jr. explained that the President wants to avoid the duplicity of work of the police.

01:11What Chief Marville is doing now is he is looking at those who are duplicating their work.

01:19For example, if someone is saying something about a community relations function,

01:24it would be a waste if they are doing the same thing.

01:26So, they are duplicating their staff.

01:29So, they are reviewing each and every department.
