Ed Davey reacts as Tory exodus continues
Sir Ed Davey has reacted to the news that Michael Gove has stood down as an MP ahead of the election, saying: "It's very interesting that a lot of senior Tories in seats that we think we can win are standing down. I think they've seen both the local election results where we're doing really well in those areas and they're seeing the fact that lots of former Conservatives are switching to the Liberal Democrats."

00:00 It's very interesting that a lot of senior Tories in seats that we think we can win are
00:05 standing down. There's Michael Gove in Surrey Heath, there's John Redwood in Wokingham,
00:10 there's Greg Clark in Tunbridge Wells and I think they've seen both the local election
00:15 results where we're doing really well in those areas and they've seen the fact that lots
00:20 of former Conservatives are switching to the Liberal Democrats. They're disgusted, frankly,
00:24 by the behaviour of the Conservatives. They like our local champions and I think that
00:29 we'll see potentially some more Conservatives standing down because they're worried about
00:34 the threat from the Liberal Democrats. Across lots of the country it's only the Liberal
00:40 Democrats who can beat the Conservatives.
