Sir Keir Starmer says the UK-France returns pilot is designed to “break the model” of small boat crossings. The prime minister said those arriving illegally would be sent back to France, making clear “you’ll end up where you started”. Mr Starmer described the plan as “groundbreaking”. Report by Covellm. 00:27that for years British governments, previous governments have been trying to secure a deal
00:34like this, a returns agreement like this because all governments have realised just how important it is
00:40and we've now been able to agree it and we've agreed it because we have cooperated, collaborated
00:48through serious diplomacy to get an outcome which is best for both of our countries and so
00:55I'm very pleased that we've been able to agree this here today.
