From the Carolinas to Connecticut, drenching thunderstorms could get in the way of lots of Memorial Day plans.
Transcript
00:00 Tomorrow showers and thunderstorms start to make the advance in and this means it's going to be a messy day.
00:05 Pittsburgh and Erie and Buffalo, some of the stormy spots as we watch those thunderstorms roll through.
00:11 Temperatures there 70s and 80s depending on where you are.
00:14 New York City 80 degrees for that high.
00:15 We managed to stay out of the activity as does Boston.
00:19 It's quite a beautiful day here as we head through your Saturday.
00:22 Then we get into Sunday. High pressure system in place.
00:25 And this is what's going to lock in the quiet times as all of that stormy weather moves into some of the Midwest.
00:32 And that means for some of those areas we're going to be talking about severe weather with the risk for tornadoes.
00:37 This is how it pans out tomorrow morning.
00:39 Not a whole lot left from this boundary.
00:41 At least we hope not, but it will reignite as we go through the afternoon hours.
00:44 Some of this may continue into the evening hours for places like New York.
00:49 But for the most part, it's pretty fleeting and fairly quiet, which means we start off Sunday nice.
00:53 And Sunday throughout the day pretty good.
00:55 Off towards the west, we are looking at some more activity.
00:57 There could be a spotty shower or thunderstorm possible as we go through Sunday afternoon.
01:02 But it's really Monday when the action comes back in.
01:04 So for Sunday, New York City, Washington, D.C., that's that stray chance for a thunderstorm.
01:09 It's pretty limited. Not everyone will see it.
01:11 So there will be a lot of communities that stay completely dry throughout your Sunday.
01:15 Then Monday, here we go.
01:17 This is the action we're talking about.
01:18 Many folks will be traveling back from their locations or just trying to get in some of those services to commemorate the fallen.
01:25 And this is where we do think thunderstorms will be a bit more of a challenge.
01:28 We'll start off in some of those western locations to begin the day, Pittsburgh, Columbus,
01:33 and then work east as we head through the daytime hours.
01:36 New York City also dealing with some of those thunderstorms possible.
01:39 So it's going to be a bit of a challenge out there, especially afternoon and evening setup.
01:44 If you're near 81 and on the east, that's going to be most of the stormy weather.
01:48 Some of those popular beaches, if you're still on the beaches Monday afternoon into Monday evening,
01:53 make sure you look behind you away from the ocean because that's where those storms will be coming in from.
