00:00Nine far-right Alternative for Germany members have been kicked out of the far-right Identity
00:10and Democracy European Parliament faction.
00:13The German political party said in a statement it was taking note of ID's decision, but was
00:19nonetheless optimistic about the EU elections in June.
00:23ID said it gave AFD the boot because it did not want to be associated with incidents related
00:29to Maximilian Krah.
00:3147-year-old Krah was the AFD's top EU Parliament pick before he made controversial comments
00:37about Nazi soldiers to an Italian newspaper.
00:40He said that not all members of the Nazi's elite SS unit, which was involved in major
00:46war crimes during World War II, were war criminals.
00:49The AFD removed Krah from his leadership position following the missive.
00:54Krah responded by writing on ex-formerly Twitter that the statements were being misused
01:00to hurt the party.
01:01It comes one month after one of Krah's assistants was also arrested on espionage charges.
