00:00 [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH]
00:25 Good morning, Profi.
00:26 [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH]
00:28 Good morning. Welcome to Rise and Shine, Filipinas.
00:30 We want to know, [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH]
00:32 [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH]
00:35 It's just a professional academic organization
00:38 intention to promote MIL as a set of skills
00:43 for lifelong learning.
00:45 [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH]
00:46 Well, 2018, [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH]
00:53 through some communication practitioners.
00:56 We also have teachers from different subjects.
00:59 [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH]
01:00 into other MIL champions, MIL advocates.
01:04 We have, in fact, librarians because we
01:07 see them also as partners in terms
01:09 of how we promote our framework.
01:12 And that is explore, engage, empower.
01:16 [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH]
01:19 Free ease, no?
01:20 Yes.
01:21 [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH]
01:23 [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH]
01:26 To search and access information,
01:29 to critically evaluate and analyze media and information,
01:33 and most importantly, [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH]
01:35 ethical and responsible [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH]
01:37 create and share [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH]
01:39 [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH]
01:42 Because we just acknowledge that there is median information
01:46 literacy.
01:46 [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH]
01:48 And intervention as an individual,
01:50 or group on how we use different kinds of media,
01:53 and how we go with the information.
01:55 So on the side of the family, [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH]
02:00 Of course, [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH]
02:02 promote critical thinking in different areas
02:05 or in different fields.
02:06 [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH]
02:07 indigenous peoples, [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH]
02:10 children, and other stakeholders
02:13 in other communities.
02:15 So annually, [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH]
02:16 gathering of MIL practitioners, advocates,
02:19 and champions through our national forum, which
02:22 we hold every January and February.
02:24 And we also have a web series where we conduct sessions.
02:32 Last year, [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH]
02:35 when it comes to artificial intelligence.
02:36 [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH]
02:41 OK, I understand that these ways on how
02:45 we would promote media information literacy
02:47 are really critical.
02:48 And [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH]
02:52 In layman's terms, [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH]
03:00 I mean, target mostly will be in schools.
03:03 And we'd like to emphasize that [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH]
03:10 although it started that way.
03:12 [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH]
03:15 It's possible that these competencies
03:18 or [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH]
03:21 from 12 skills under MIL, we now have 23 and counting.
03:26 So [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH]
03:33 we get to see these competencies when
03:36 it comes to properly evaluating and reviewing information
03:41 sources.
03:42 All right.
03:42 You mentioned [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] national forums,
03:45 web series.
03:46 But you also learned that [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH]
03:49 international collaborations.
03:51 Tell us more.
03:51 Yes.
03:52 [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH]
03:54 Last year, we had in celebration of the global MIL week
03:59 last October, we had these global conversations
04:02 with MIL experts.
04:04 So for example, we have Center for Media Literacy.
04:06 We have resource persons abroad.
04:08 And right now, we are exploring academic collaborations.
04:13 [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH]
04:16 Last time, we partnered with the Philippine Librarians
04:18 Association, Incorporated, and also the Asian Congress
04:22 for Media and Communication.
04:23 All right.
04:24 You mentioned the three E's--
04:25 engage, empower, and--
04:27 Explore.
04:27 Explore.
04:28 So I think [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH]
04:31 or what could be the basic and [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH]
04:35 framework [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH]
04:38 [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH]
04:40 Umbrella.
04:40 Umbrella.
04:41 [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH]
04:43 Across levels, [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH]
04:45 we are able to map or align [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH]
04:48 OK.
04:49 And it's actually possible that [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH]
04:53 skills or guide questions under the three E's.
04:56 [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH]
04:58 Early childhood education.
04:59 Wow.
04:59 [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH]
05:02 [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH]
05:04 We are advocates of promoting MIL skills [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH]
05:10 They can already--
05:11 [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH]
05:13 So [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH] it's not only the children,
05:20 but we also want to talk to-- or we have healthy conversations
05:24 with parents since they are--
05:26 [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH]
05:27 --very good partners, hopefully, in promoting MIL.
05:30 [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH]
05:32 Well, [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH]
05:36 And we also heard the [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH]
05:38 research publication.
05:40 Tell us more about it.
05:41 Yes, we just released the landmark issue
05:43 of the Philippine Journal for Media Information Literacy.
05:46 Wow.
05:46 OK.
05:47 And most-- [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH]
05:50 We have academic essays.
05:52 We have research engagements.
05:54 [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH]
05:58 And of course, [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH]
06:00 senior high school, how MIL is taught,
06:04 [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH]
06:06 in terms of training.
06:08 And we're looking forward in the future
06:10 [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH]
06:12 that would apply [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH]
06:17 from those studies.
06:17 OK.
06:18 [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH]
06:20 OK.
06:21 You can check our social media.
06:23 So that's the Facebook page of Philippine Association
06:26 for Media and Information Literacy.
06:29 And you can also go to our website, pamil.org.ph.
06:33 And there are links available [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH]
06:37 or even institutions can become institutional members.
06:40 All right.
06:41 On that note, thank you so much, Sir Carlo Concepcion.
06:44 [NON-ENGLISH SPEECH]
06:47 More power, Jose.
06:48 More power, sir.
