00:03 You have a lot of nominations. How have you been preparing for this evening?
00:06 I don't think there's a way to prepare for this evening.
00:08 The preparation's already been done and the work to get here.
00:11 I'm more concerned about my performance.
00:13 I'm really wanting to just go ahead and get on stage
00:15 because that's like where no anxiety is.
00:17 And that's when I'm in control.
00:19 So once I get to play, then we'll sit back and have some drinks
00:22 and just see if I win something.

00:24 So being nominated for Entertainer of the Year,
00:26 how did you react to that one in particular?
00:28 That's the one I've wanted for a long time.
00:30 I pride myself on never mailing it in on stage.
00:35 I always play my shows as if it's the last show I'm ever going to play
00:39 and it's the only show I'm going to be remembered for.
00:41 So if you look at the category and you look at the people that are nominated,
00:45 man, I've already won.
00:46 They put me in a class of some really heavy hitting people that are all my friends.
00:50 So there's no losing.
00:52 Well, that said, how do you celebrate a night like tonight once it's all said and done?
00:56 Well, probably getting some sleep because I have to get on a jet tomorrow
01:00 to go to Des Moines, Iowa to play a show, ride the bus to Fargo, play a show,
01:04 get back on the jet, go to L.A., play American Idol,
01:06 and then I'll get to go home and celebrate.
01:08 Yes, the finale of Idol.
01:09 Is that right?
01:10 On Sunday?
01:11 Yep.
01:11 There's a young man named Tristan that's been singing my songs
01:13 and I'm excited to get to go perform with him and kind of give back a little bit.
