Fake passport syndicate busted, two nabbed in Kajang

The Immigration Department has busted the operations of a syndicate involved in falsifying passports over the past two years in a house in Kajang.  Its director-general Datuk Ruslin Jusoh said a 38-year-old Bangladeshi mastermind, known as ‘Ofu Bhai’ was arrested along with his 40-year-old Filipina partner. 01:06 Roslyn said the department had noticed several foreigners stopped during raids producing

01:13 Investigations showed that the syndicate would affix a fake data page, which contained the

01:18 user's details, onto genuine passports that had expired.

01:22 "In other words, they made a new trick to attach the information on the biodata of the

01:31 original passport, where they charged them for the attachment or transfer of information

01:37 on the biodata of the passport, they charged them RM1,000 to RM1,500 for the scoping of

01:44 the passport."

01:46 He added that the syndicate would also use the fake biodata on the passport to obtain

01:51 FOMIMA approval for RM600 to RM1,000 per document.

01:56 Roslyn said it is believed the syndicate has been active for around two years, and investigations

02:01 were ongoing to determine if it has any other members.

02:05 Both suspects have been remanded for 14 days.
