US vetoes UN membership resolution for Palestine

The United States blocks a UN resolution allowing Palestine to become a full member of the United Nations, which Palestinians have wanted but Israel opposed. Most of the Security Council voted in favor, including US allies like France, Japan, and South Korea, indicating wider international recognition of Palestinian statehood and sympathy for their plight during the Gaza conflict.
