Tasmanian dairy farmers are facing having to slaughter male calves on farm after the release of footage showing cruel practices prompted restrictions at the only Tasmanian abattoir licensed to kill calves. With no timeline for the abattoir to resume slaughtering calves, farmers fear they'll have to take on the task when thousands of male calves are born in spring.
