Is this cow begging for its life before being butchered?

Video of a cow tied to a road sign in front of a butcher's stall frantically nodding its head has lead some local citizens to believe the animal is begging for its life.
The footage, filmed in Lanzhou City in north-central Gansu Province on October 22, shows the cow repeatedly nodding its head towards two butchers who are selling meat at the stand.
According to reports, the cattle kept nodding for the whole afternoon and also shed tears.
In the end the cow was killed.
