00:00 (screaming)
00:02 - Join Kool Kaa Chick and myself, Spooda Paloni,
00:04 on an epic road trip as we travel across Mzansi
00:07 from city driving to dune bashing, laughter to screams,
00:11 we explore the very best of what our beautiful country
00:14 has to offer.
00:15 (upbeat music)
00:17 - Just sit there, look pretty like you always do
00:19 next to me.
00:21 - No trip to KZN is complete without a visit to Ete Gwini.
00:24 Now our tight schedule meant we didn't get a chance
00:27 to dip our toes in the warm waters
00:29 of the Indian Ocean,
00:30 but we did manage to take an epic selfie.
00:33 (laughing)
00:35 We headed down to the South Coast
00:38 for our next port of call, the Wild Coast Sun.
00:41 Now, normally you'd come here for sunny skies
00:44 and golden beaches, but unfortunately on this trip,
00:47 the weather wasn't playing nice and fair to ish.
00:50 Then again, there's no better time
00:51 for a little pampering session.
00:53 If having your feet touched by strangers isn't your thing,
00:58 there's plenty of other activities to do,
01:00 even in gloomy weather.
01:01 In keeping with the spirit of adventure
01:03 and trying out new things,
01:04 it was time to jump in the saddle
01:06 and do an impression of a Setswana cowboy.
01:09 (upbeat music)
01:12 After all that relaxing,
01:19 it was time to get our pulses racing again
01:21 and the next stop on our road trip
01:23 was going to do just that.
01:26 - How's it going? Welcome to Wild 5 Adventures
01:28 here at the Orubi Gorge.
01:29 Are you guys ready for action?
01:30 You've come to the home of the world's highest gorge swing.
01:32 It's a 165 meter jump here at Wild 5 Adventures,
01:35 the wild swing.
01:36 You're going to experience 75 meters of free fall
01:38 before you go into the swing,
01:39 dropping a hundred meters in total,
01:40 getting to 120 kilometers an hour in 2.3 seconds.
01:44 All right, so you're going to experience about 2.2 G-forces.
01:47 And then after the jump,
01:48 we're going to be pulling you up alongside Lear's waterfall
01:51 and you're going to come up that mountain
01:52 right alongside the falls.
01:53 With a little bit of wind,
01:54 you might even end up getting pulled through the falls.
01:55 So one of the only places in the world
01:57 that you're going to experience that
01:58 and the ultimate rush guys.
01:59 Are you guys ready for this?
02:01 Yeah, half and half.
02:03 I remember fear is temporary, regret is forever.
02:05 So let's launch ourselves off that edge.
02:07 Despite all the safety gear,
02:13 we were still a little nervous.
02:15 You can tell because Zipporah
02:16 was making small talk with the instructor.
02:18 - My name is Zipporah.
02:20 So how many times have you done this?
02:22 - More than a thousand.
02:23 - More than a thousand?
02:25 And every time you do it, are you scared
02:26 or is it just like you're used to it?
02:28 - No, it's fine.
02:29 - It's been good!
02:33 Goodbye my friend.
02:35 - The jokes quickly stop when you find yourself
02:40 on the edge of a 300 meter deep gorge.
02:44 Then things get serious pretty quickly.
02:46 Will I go through with it or not?
02:51 - No, no, no, no!
02:54 - Wait, wait, wait, wait!
02:56 - Oh my God!
03:14 Oh my God!
03:15 - At this moment,
03:22 I'm reevaluating my life.
03:25 - I don't think Zipporah is going to do it.
03:27 I mean, it took me two tries.
03:30 I almost honestly tapped out.
03:32 Looks like I'm about to catch a shower.
03:39 - Three, two, one, go!
03:45 - Three, two, one, go!
03:47 (screaming)
03:49 - Wow, we liked that jump so much,
03:59 we couldn't resist watching it
04:01 from every camera angle we had rolling.
04:03 - Oh my gosh, it's so hard!
04:14 - Oh my God!
04:15 - We're in it!
04:21 - I'm alive!
04:27 I can't even put it to words,
04:30 I thought I was dying.
04:32 And then it was beautiful,
04:34 and then I wanted to cry,
04:35 and then it's all my work.
04:37 But I do it again.
04:39 - So tell me Z,
04:40 would you go back and do the swing again?
04:44 - I'd go back and do the swing again.
04:46 No questions asked.
04:47 I think I'd be just as terrified,
04:49 but I'd definitely do it again,
04:50 it was that thrilling.
04:51 - My eyes were closed the whole time.
04:53 - It taught me two things,
04:55 that number one,
04:56 I'm not as much as an adrenaline junkie as I thought,
04:59 and number two,
05:00 you are an adventure junkie!
05:03 - Surprised myself,
05:05 I surprised myself all the way through.
05:07 I mean, that was thrilling,
05:08 when you think you're going to die,
05:09 and then you open your eyes,
05:11 and it's like a beautiful jungle around you,
05:12 it's waterfall everywhere,
05:13 it's just like,
05:14 (gasps)
05:15 I don't think,
05:16 how did we even do that?
05:17 We got,
05:18 - Look what we have to show for it!
05:20 Woo-hoo!
05:21 (Zachary singing)
05:23 - Listen, certified adventure junkies,
05:25 that's how we are.
05:26 And we've been having fun, man.
05:28 - And the adventure's not over,
05:29 because we are driving to our next adventure spot.
05:32 - Keep rolling, rolling, rolling, rolling, rolling,
05:35 rolling, rolling, rolling, rolling, rolling.
05:37 - The third leg of our journey would be the longest.
05:40 Over the next 11 hours,
05:42 we would leave behind the rolling hills
05:43 and rural villages of KwaZulu-Natal,
05:45 and enter into the Eastern Cape,
05:48 that is home to the Addo Elephant Park,
05:50 the third largest national park in South Africa,
05:52 and home to 550 elephants.
05:55 - Why am I so excited to see an elephant?
05:59 - What is it doing?
06:00 - I don't know, but it's beautiful!
06:03 (dramatic music)
