Hello, we're back with another edition of Five Things to Do, our weekly
00:08
entertainment guide to make sure you don't miss a thing.
00:11
And unusually, we're starting this week with politics, but in a good way.
00:15
Because Chorley is the destination for the aptly named Matt Chorley,
00:19
who draws on two decades of reporting from Westminster and two centuries of
00:23
history to deliver his hilarious guide to winning and losing at the polls.
00:28
Times radio presenter and Have I Got News for You regular is back with his third
00:32
stand up tour, ready to focus group the audience and compile his own manifesto,
00:36
guaranteed to gain the keys to number 10.
00:39
That's all at the Chorley Theatre on the 18th of March, and tickets are 23 pounds each.
00:46
Lancaster next for more comedy as Paul Foot arrives at the Dukes Theatre with his
00:50
Dissolve show.
00:51
In the year 2022, something momentous changed for Paul, and in this show,
00:55
he will reveal how he discovered the secret of life on the outskirts of Lancaster.
01:00
Inevitably, he does get distracted by King Tutankhamun, the House of Lords,
01:04
Sir Cliff Richard, the vicious lollipop ladies, and what Jesus might have achieved
01:09
if he'd been a plumber.
01:10
That one's on the 21st of March, and tickets will cost you 17 pounds.
01:15
Some live music now at the Burnley Mechanics Theatre, and it's a big name,
01:18
as Tony Christie celebrates 50 or more years in showbiz.
01:22
The legendary crooner continues to entertain audiences around the world,
01:25
with incredible showmanship, an unmistakable powerful vocal that has
01:29
captivated generation after generation, and a set that packs a punch.
01:34
All the classic hits will be there, and of course, one of the biggest-selling
01:36
singles of the past two decades, Is This the Way to Amarillo.
01:41
Thursday 21st for that one, and tickets are 32 pounds.
01:44
More comedy next, this time at the Atkinson Theatre in Southport for Count
01:48
Arthur Strong's Farewell Tour, Part 1.
01:51
Count Arthur Strong has decided to gradually phase his Farewell Tour over a
01:55
yet-to-be-specified number of parts, because, he says, there's a likelihood
01:59
of people doing cold turkey in theatres over him.
02:02
Join Arthur for this never-to-be-forgotten start to his Farewell Tour,
02:05
called And It's Good Night From Him.
02:08
Thursday 21st for that one, and tickets are 23 pounds.
02:13
Lastly, we go full circle back to the Chorley Theatre for an evening with
02:16
musician and music journalist and local lad, John Robb, in a show called
02:20
Do You Believe in the Power of Rock and Roll?
02:23
John Robb talks about life in music, his best-selling Art of Darkness book,
02:27
being the first person to interview Nirvana, inventing the word Britpop,
02:32
and adventures on the post-punk front line.
02:34
Really interesting sounding night for anyone interested in music, and you can
02:37
catch him on Saturday 23rd March, and tickets are 12 pounds.
02:42
Politics, punk and pranksters this week.
02:44
Join me next week for another Five Things to Do, but in the meantime,
02:47
take care and have a great week.
