00:00 The Philippine Football Federation has now released the 28-man roster of our men's football team
00:06 that will be playing in the second round of the 2026 FIFA World Cup and 2027 AFC Asian Cup qualifiers
00:14 in March 21 and 26.
00:17 This is Daryl Oclares' first report.
00:19 The Philippine Football Federation has announced the 28-man roster that will be selected
00:26 to form the lineup of our Philippine men's football team
00:30 in the second round of the 2026 FIFA World Cup and 2027 AFC Asian Cup qualifiers.
00:36 The team captain and goalkeeper, Neil Etheridge, is leading the list,
00:41 along with several veteran booters, Patrick Rachel, Daiso Quesado, Amania Aguinaldo, Kevin Ingreso, and Harvey Gayoso.
00:51 The team has seven players who could be included in the senior team in the first round, including Michael and Matthew Baldissimo.
00:59 Aside from the new players, this will also be a debut game for the new head coach, Tom St. Fiat.
01:06 In an interview with the Belgian football coach Kamakailan,
01:09 he said that it won't be easy for them to face the powerhouse team, Iraq.
01:14 I think that will be for sure the most difficult match. Iraq is a powerhouse in Asian football.
01:21 This is a football country, a giant in Asian football, but I love to play against giants.
01:26 St. Fiat also announced the target of the country of Coponan to have a chance to advance in the next round of the tournament.
01:35 I would prefer that if we could draw against them, everything is in our own hands to beat Vietnam and Indonesia in the last games,
01:44 to even qualify in this stage. If we could win one, for example, the home match, that would be amazing.
01:50 But let's not dream too much, let's work. We have no preparation, we're friendly.
01:55 So let's go for a good 0-0, and I will be very happy with that.
01:59 On March 21, the first game of our men's team against Iraq will take place at Basra Stadium before the home game at Rizal Memorial Stadium on March 26.
02:10 Jory Loclares for Pampansang TV in Bagong, Philippines.
