Education key to developing Special Economic Zone in Johor, says Dr Wee Ka Siong

The hope of elevating the state’s education sector to greater heights rests in the newly minted Johor education and information committee chairman Aznan Tamin, says Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.  The MCA president said on Sunday (Feb 18) that education is very important for Johor, especially as the state is working towards developing the Special Economic Zone (SEZ) with Singapore. 00:25 Hopefully that education is important for you

00:39 That education include the formal education, tertiary

00:42 education, vocational training, as well as on job,

00:48 what they call the skill training.

00:50 That's important to ensure that we have sufficient manpower.

00:55 I think that's important.

00:56 And more so when the exchange rate of ringgit and Singapore

01:01 dollar, which is 1 to 3.5--

01:04 more than 3.5, that is the biggest challenge for employer

01:09 to get Malaysian worker to work here because of the very

01:14 attractive exchange rate.

01:18 You have faith in him.

01:19 You have faith that he will do it.

01:21 Yeah, yeah.

01:22 I think I have full confidence in him

01:25 since he's still very new.

01:26 So I hope that he can bring the education

01:31 sector to a greater heights.
