- As we have been reporting in Cuba,
00:07
the 32nd edition of the Havana International Book Fair
00:10
continues.
00:11
For more up-to-date information,
00:12
let's go with our correspondent live, Belen De Los Santos.
00:15
- We're in Havana, Cuba.
00:28
Thank you, Luis.
00:29
We're here for the 32nd International Book Fair.
00:33
This is Thursday.
00:34
This is the second day of activities,
00:37
which was inaugurated on Thursday.
00:38
We're on Saturday,
00:39
and this is the second day of activities.
00:42
This is the Cerro Cavaña Military Historical Park.
00:45
This is the most important headquarters of the fair,
00:49
which is taking place right now.
00:50
Behind me, you can see everyone enjoying the day.
00:54
The fair will be open until 6 p.m. local time.
00:59
So, many activities are taking place.
01:02
In this fair, 3,000 new titles between paper books
01:06
and digital books will be taking place,
01:10
will be presented.
01:11
Actually, the digital books here in the fair
01:13
are one of the main points on this 32nd edition,
01:17
because there's a big bet on publishers,
01:20
both local and international,
01:22
on the presentation of digital books
01:25
as a way to present new titles
01:29
without the impediment of needing the paper resources.
01:34
So, the idea is that reading will become a main activity
01:40
for all Cubans and also for the international audience.
01:47
45 nations are participating in this international fair,
01:51
which is really becoming an intercultural exchange
01:55
Behind me is the chamber
01:57
where the Brazilian activities are taking place.
02:00
Brazil is the guest of honor,
02:03
the country guest of honor in this book fair.
02:05
And actually, right in this moment,
02:08
the activity that was taking place
02:10
was a comic writer exchange
02:13
between Cubans and Brazilians comic writers.
02:16
So, that was a lot of fun, a lot of artistic activities.
02:21
Also, right beside it,
02:23
Venezuelan Attorney General William Tarek Zab
02:27
was also presenting a book.
02:29
So, we really see how this is an international event
02:32
where a lot of exchange is taking place.
02:35
The fair started, as we were saying, on Thursday 15th,
02:39
and will take place until the 25th of February.
02:44
So, we will be here with all the latest updates
02:47
to bring you back to you.
02:50
- Thank you, Belen, for the up-to-date information
02:52
on this amazing cultural activity and exchange of peoples
02:56
that is taking place in the Cabaña Military Fortress
03:00
as part of the tradition of knowledge
03:01
and bringing knowledge to all of Cuban society and the world.
03:05
We're gonna stay tuned with other information,
03:07
so stay tuned for that.
