Publi Oriental Barbecue on Frygate is the newest restaurant to open in Preston.
00:05
As you might be able to guess from the decoration, the restaurant serves a combination of Korean and Chinese dishes.
00:12
On arrival I was immediately impressed by the size of the restaurant and its pretty decorations.
00:17
Publi's menu includes starters, mains and sides, made by the restaurant's kitchen as you would usually expect,
00:24
but there was also a self-grill menu, offering customers the chance to get cooking themselves.
00:29
As well as eating in the Frygate site, you can order most of the food to take out too.
00:34
Having opened less than two months ago, I've headed down to the restaurant to chat to manager Stephen Chan
00:39
to find out more about Publi Oriental Barbecue.
00:42
How would you describe Publi?
00:44
I would say they are at the moment the main priority, the selling point is the Korean barbecue
00:51
and also we're doing some Chinese food as well.
00:55
So do you cook the barbecue in front of your customers?
00:59
They've got two either way, right? One, you can order the self-grill, you cook it for yourself
01:05
and the other one you can ask, order the barbecue food, we can cook it in the kitchen for you.
01:10
There's two ways of doing it.
01:12
And why did you want to open the restaurant in Preston?
01:14
Because we want to get the customer more choice and a different concern for them to pick, you know, yeah.
01:22
Instead of just the traditional Chinese buffet, instead of something.
01:26
So we want to make something different for the customers.
01:29
And have you had a good reception of the people in Preston?
01:32
At the moment, we've opened about two months now, quite a good feedback for the customer
01:39
and then the customers seem to be enjoying the star work, serving with them
01:43
and the rest of the presentation and the food as well.
01:47
Have you got a most popular dish?
01:49
In this case, I would say one of the dishes on the menu, number 71, they call the stone bowl rice.
01:58
A lot of people order this one and the next time when they come back, they will order it again.
02:03
And then on the self-grill, self-barbecue, the number 111, the set meal for a lot of people order it.
02:10
And then some of the specific individual dishes, for example, the number 45, the belly pork
02:18
and then some of the seafood, also very popular.
02:21
Do you have a favourite dish?
02:23
For me, I would like the seafood tartar, self-grill.
02:27
And what about the actual restaurant decoration, like the lanterns?
02:31
Some of the lanterns we bought, some of the, bought it from China.
02:35
And then some of the, some of the table and the chair, we bought it from China, imported here.
02:43
The decor, surface and the food is quite, for me, is quite amazing.
02:49
People enjoy it.
02:50
We got a lot of free bar.
02:52
Hopefully the customer in the Preston area or the Lancaster area will come and maybe try to come to the public or rental restaurant to try it.
03:02
And then if not the self-grill barbecue, you can order the different dishes or they bring it to the table to you.
03:08
It's a more different experience instead of just going to the restaurant and ordering.
03:14
You got self-grill, ask them to cook some special dishes to you, some of the special dishes from the restaurant.
