00:08 because we know that tonight they need a place to sleep and they might need some food.

00:12 So as the Gov, we asked for a move of a reallocation of our vote so that we can be able to do that.

00:19 We will then go to the site and see what other interventions we can do.

00:23 But what I'm going to make an appeal to the government is that we really need to have...

00:27 I know we have the Red Cross and they're on the ground and they're going to do the good that they normally do,

00:32 but we need to be able to sink whatever we're doing.

00:35 So we will share the list of survivors that we have been able to help.

00:40 Yes, what appeal are you making to them?

00:43 Well, the appeal that I'm making to everyone...

00:45 This guy's been abducted along the restriction area.

00:48 Yes, so I hope that they will arrest the culprit and be able to put him behind bars

00:52 because obviously people have lost their lives because of an illegal business, right?

00:56 And I hear that the gas smell was being felt and the members of the public had already alerted

01:01 and then somebody was trying to recharge his car, the battery had gone down

01:05 and the spark is what caused the explosion.

01:07 And then gas cylinders were thrown across and explosions were heard in different places.

01:11 So this is an accident that should not have happened, all right?

01:15 And these people that have been affected have gone through a horrific night

01:20 and it's all because of somebody not respecting the law.

01:24 So I really know that the IG is on top of it and the DCI are on top of it

01:28 and they're going to do the job that they have to do to make sure that the culprit is arrested.

01:32 But this should be a lesson to everyone.

01:34 You cannot operate the business without the required licenses

01:38 and especially if you're trading in something that is so inflammable.

01:42 How does that seem? Still there's an arrest.

01:45 You've seen the people who are residing there.

01:47 What appeal are you making to them?

01:49 Well, the residential people have no problem.

01:51 I'm the person who went to conduct an illegal business in a residential area.

01:54 But the thing is we have so many structures in government.

01:58 Even the leadership in government should be able to know what is going on in their wards,

02:02 what is going on in their backyard.

02:04 You know we talk about Nyumba Kumi, we've got chiefs everywhere.

02:07 The chief is culpable because he knows that certain things are also not supposed to operate within a certain area.

02:14 But the thing is, you know, we have to be vigilant

02:16 because this is why crime happens, when people are not vigilant.

02:20 If you see somebody doing something that you think is illegal and could harm you,

02:24 you need to report to the authorities.

02:26 So I'm sure the Senate is going to pick that up.

02:29 I'm running the Energy Committee.

02:32 I heard Senator Sifuna saying that he's going to meet the energy people and look into it.

02:37 I'm sure the National Assembly will also pick it up.

02:40 But for me, the focus right now is how do we help those affected to be able to pick up their lives.
