00:00 But the number one issue is always around healthiness, health of the hair.
00:10 And isn't it funny?
00:12 I've never had a client sit in front of me and say, "Will you make my hair look dull
00:18 and dry and boring?"
00:21 Shine is the holy grail of hair care.
00:26 How do you feel about your hair?
00:28 Well, it seems to be a bigger part of our daily lives than perhaps you'd first expect.
00:33 Research from Cloud9 uncovered that 20% of Brits are opting to grow out their hair in
00:37 2024 in order to optimise hair wellbeing.
00:40 With 18% of us having made the decision to make more regular visits to the salon, what
00:44 can we learn about taking care of our hair?
00:47 Yeah, there is a lot of information out there and we know that 52% of millennials have particularly
00:53 kind of tried things like putting coffee onto their hair, which is going to have no benefit
00:58 at all.
01:01 Investing a couple of more minutes in the shower when you wash and care for your hair
01:07 will make all the difference.
01:09 I mean, the amount of people that don't even properly rinse out the suds of their shampoo
01:15 bubbles or wash their hair really vigorously or don't spend any time massaging their scalp.
01:25 Those couple of little tips and hints and hair hacks can really help people with their
01:30 hair health.
01:31 Now, you may recognise celebrity hair stylist Andrew Barton from Channel 4's hit show 10
01:37 Years Younger.
01:38 But what are some of the biggest tips he has when it comes to keeping your hair healthy?
01:44 Spend a few more seconds slowly massaging your scalp because what that will do is it
01:50 invigorates the blood supply to the hair follicle, which helps with hair growth and hair health.
01:57 So be mindful of these things.
01:59 You know, when you're using a hairdryer, instead of it being a task that you don't enjoy doing,
02:06 maybe take a more positive slant on it that I'm now smoothing my hair and by smoothing
02:11 my hair, I'm going to get a bit more shine to it.
02:13 So, you know, having that more positive mindset around the things that you're doing to your
02:19 look really helps in terms of confidence and self-esteem.
02:24 Research has also shown that nearly one in two of us plan to prioritise our mental health
02:28 and wellbeing in 2024.
02:30 With our confidence being so intrinsically linked to our mental health, what can our
02:35 hair do for us in this respect?
02:37 It's absolutely, I mean, hair is that one outfit that you never take off and it's got
02:42 to work on whatever occasion you're at, whether it's formal, whether it's casual.
02:47 Your hair's got to work for you all the time.
02:50 If you buy a pair of jeans and get them home and your bum looks too big in them and you're
02:54 not happy with it, at worst you leave it in the bottom drawer and try and forget about
02:58 the purchase.
02:59 You can't do that with your hair and it has to work for you.
