Two men dead in light plane crash at Dugandan, in Queensland's Scenic Rim

Two men have died in a light plane crash in the scenic rim.   The aircraft came down over the road from a golf club and authorities say they're grateful more lives weren't lost.

00:05 Players enjoying a Sunday round of golf saw a light plane crash just before midday.

00:10 Emergency services arrived a short time later and found the bodies of the two men, a 69

00:16 year old and 82 year old.

00:18 As you can imagine, any crash scene can be quite confronting.

00:23 Police say the relationship between the two men is unknown and their families have been

00:28 told.

00:29 We wish their families every possible amount of support that can be provided to them at

00:37 this time.

00:38 The plane took off from nearby Boonah Airfield earlier in the day and was on its way back.

00:44 The golf club is on the edge of town.

00:46 We are very grateful that even though we have lost two lives, that it was not far worse,

00:52 absolutely.

00:53 With homes nearby, police have urged anyone with footage of its final moments to contact

00:58 them.

00:59 We're also aware that there are many members of the community who may have witnessed this

01:03 particular crash and our thoughts are also with those persons.

01:07 The Australian Transport Safety Bureau will be following the investigation into the crash.

01:12 Inquiries will include what caused the plane to go down, whether a Mayday call was made

01:16 and the experience of the pilot.
