Professional cyclist charged with causing the death of Olympian wife Melissa Hoskins

Cyclist Rohan Dennis has been charged with causing the death of his wife, Olympian cyclist Melissa Hoskins after a crash in Adelaide's inner north yesterday.

00:00 It was just after 8 o'clock on Saturday night when emergency crews were called to this street

00:06 in Medindie in Adelaide's inner northern suburbs.

00:09 That was after reports that a woman had been struck by a car.

00:13 That woman was 32-year-old Melissa Hosking who was a former professional cyclist and

00:19 an Olympian.

00:21 She was rushed to the Royal Adelaide Hospital for treatment but sadly she died from her

00:26 injuries just hours later.

00:29 Her husband, Rowan Dennis, who had recently just retired from professional cycling, he

00:34 was arrested.

00:35 He has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving, driving without due care

00:40 and also endangering lives.

00:43 He has been granted bail.

00:45 He will next face the Adelaide Magistrates Court in March.

00:48 The pair were married in 2018.

00:50 They had two kids together.

00:53 There has been an outpour of tributes for Melissa, a number of former athletes saying
