Scrooge (1951) (Part 2)

One night on Christmas Eve miserly businessman Ebenezer Scrooge finds himself visited by the ghost of his late partner Jacob Marley. He comes to warn him that if he does not change his ways he will face eternal damnation in death. He tells him he has hope of salvation, but forwarns him that he will be visited by three spirits, one every hour. However, with Scrooge steadfastly insisting he is too old to change, is it too late to save him?

Starring Alastair Sim, Mervyn Johns, George Cole, Kathleen Harrison, Hermoine Baddeley, Michael Horden, Francis De Woolf, Glyn Dearman, Brian Worth, Rona Anderson, Michael J Dolan, Jack Warner, Carol Marsh, Miles Malleson, Ernest Thesinger, Peter Bull, Eleanor Summerfield, Richard Pearson and Roddy Hughes, plus keep an eye out for early appearances by Hattie Jacques and Patrick Macnee. This is from one of my own video recordings from Xmas 1989. There are some glitches due to age, notably it wobbles during the opening credits, but it is clear during the film. I wouldn't normally of uploaded it due to this, but I felt that it suited being shown over Xmas, and the fact this is complete with adverts from it's broadcast on Channel 4 in 1989 may interest a few too. Alastair Sim is another of my favourites from when I was a kid, and he is superb in this. Indeed, such is the performance of the cast that it's no wonder that it is considered one of the best adaptations of the novel A Christmas Carol. Enjoy.
