Como appoints Roberts as interim manager

Roberts has been appointed as the interim manager of Italian club Como until the conclusion of the season. The Welshman, who previously served as an assistant boss for Wales and Crystal Palace, will be supported by Cesc Fabregas, the former Spain, Arsenal, and Barcelona midfielder who is also a part-owner of the Serie B team. Fabregas recently assumed the role of interim boss, marking his first foray into senior management. Currently occupying the third position in the Italian second division, Como has enlisted Roberts, who has been without a job since departing from Crystal Palace alongside manager Patrick Vieira in March 2023. In addition to his managerial duties, Roberts will also take on the role of head of development for Como. However, the club has stated that he will solely focus on this position following the conclusion of the 2023-24 season, at which point a new manager will be appointed. With previous experience as the technical director for the Football Association of Wales and Morocco's football association, Roberts has worked alongside notable figures such as Gary Speed, Chris Coleman, and Ryan Giggs during his time with the Wales senior staff.
