North west news update 1 Dec 2023: Pop icon 'Ed Sheeran' causes a stir

00:04 the North West. A man has been rescued from a canal in Wigan just 24 hours after two people

00:09 died after being pulled from the same waterway. Emergency services were called to the Leeds

00:13 Liverpool canal near Wigan Investment Centre on Waterside Drive to help the man on Wednesday

00:18 afternoon. A source has told Wigan Today that the man was using a wheelchair and was rescued

00:23 from the water by a passerby. Two ambulances attended and the man was taken to hospital

00:28 but his current condition is not known. The public have been urged to call 999 for immediate

00:33 sightings of a missing man who has links to Blackpool. D'Nico Bowden was last seen in

00:38 the Claremont area of Blackpool. The 20-year-old was wearing a white polo shirt, black trousers

00:43 and a black coat when he was last seen. He's described as 6 foot 2 inches tall, slim build

00:48 with short mousy brown hair. New images have been released of what Preston's new £45 million

00:55 cinema and leisure complex will look like. Eric Wright Construction, which is developing

00:59 the venue on the former indoor market site, is seeking planning permission to make amendments

01:03 to plans passed in May 2022. As part of the process, architects have released new drawings

01:07 of how the structure will look from various angles as well as indicating where new signage

01:11 will be. Research from the Labour Party shows that only eight banks remain in Burnley, meaning

01:17 that 42.9% have closed since 2015. The party has announced a new policy to bring banking

01:23 services back to communities like Burnley, as new analysis shows the scale of decline

01:28 in services on high streets.

01:31 And an Ed Sheeran lookalike caused a stir with customers when he visited Lancaster Burger

01:35 Bar this week. Ty Jones, who bears a remarkable resemblance to singing sensation Ed, was at

01:40 Bergshake in St Leonard's Gate on Wednesday to shoot a promotional video for the business.
