John Janczewski pays tribute to his mum who died just weeks after doctors discovered a cancerous brain tumour

00:00 She just had that kind of spirit, that, yeah,

00:03 loving spirit where she just wants to help people.

00:06 Very proud of that.

00:07 And yeah, just wish we had more time with her,

00:09 unfortunately, you know,

00:11 when it all sort of happened initially

00:13 about four or five weeks ago now,

00:16 when she first went into hospital,

00:17 they said like, oh, we think she's got a tumor.

00:20 And it just sort of deteriorated really quickly.

00:21 First, it was, depending on results,

00:23 it could be three months worst case scenario

00:26 to three years best case scenario.

00:28 And we thought, well, it's not great,

00:30 but three or four years would be fantastic.

00:32 Couldn't operate, couldn't do chemo.

00:34 And then it was a case of,

00:34 well, we'll just make her comfortable.

00:36 She'll probably get three months.

00:37 And then being told that sort of a week, 10 days later,

00:40 she'd gone.

00:41 So it just happened really, really quickly.

00:44 But she just had a kind of spirit,

00:48 like I'm more cynical, I'm more sarcastic.

00:50 Like that's my sense of humor.

00:51 My mom was more sort of caring and open.

00:55 My last memory of my mom while she's still coherent,

00:59 which I've loved telling the last week or so,

01:02 is I got to the thing

01:04 and she was able to still open her eyes slightly.

01:07 As you can see, it was me.

01:07 And I was telling her that I was gonna sing Spice Girls

01:09 at her funeral.

01:10 And she was like, no, no, no, no, no, no.

01:12 When she was waving her hands and shaking her head.

01:14 And it's so daft and so silly

01:18 that that's my last memory of my mom.

01:20 But I'm so glad it was just a happy one.

01:22 It wasn't of her being in hospital in pain.

01:26 Thankfully she wasn't in pain at the end.

01:27 And it's just so nice to have something daft as well.
