Chinese President Xi Jinping has arrived in San Francisco for a much-anticipated China-US summit with his American counterpart Joe Biden.

00:14 It's his first trip to the US in six years and is coupled with the 30th APEC Economic
00:19 Leaders Meeting this week.
00:22 Experts have high hopes for the talks, believing they will help stabilize China-US relations
00:27 and inject new momentum into global economic recovery.
00:31 President Joe Biden says he expects the talks to be wide-ranging and to include the Israel-Hamas
00:35 war, Taiwan, the war in Ukraine and election interference.
00:38 While at the same time, he's hoping to improve relations between the two countries, which
00:43 deteriorated earlier this year.
00:46 "To get back on a normal course of corresponding, being able to pick up the phone and talk to
00:52 one another if there's a crisis, being able to make sure our military still have contact
00:57 with one another.
00:58 We can't take, as I told you, we're not trying to decouple from China.
01:07 What we're trying to do is change the relationship for the better."
01:13 The Biden-Xi meeting will take place during the Asia-Pacific Economics Cooperation Summit,
01:18 which is a unique grouping of economies rather than nations, allowing participation of Chinese
01:22 ruled Hong Kong and democratically governed Taiwan.
