00:00 In Afghanistan, the United States and NATO fought together with their allied countries.
00:05 The United States attacked Afghanistan in 2001.
00:08 This was a reaction to the attack on the World Trade Center.
00:11 This attack is known as 9/11.
00:14 During the war, the goods coming to the United States, NATO and the Allied Forces
00:18 used to reach Afghanistan through Pakistan.
00:21 In these containers coming from abroad,
00:24 a large number of other items of arms and essential life were present.
00:29 One day, it was reported that all these containers had disappeared in Pakistan
00:33 instead of reaching Afghanistan.
00:35 The Supreme Court took notice of this incident.
00:38 At that time, Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhary was the Chief Justice of Pakistan.
00:42 Now the question arises, how did such a big scandal of containers come to light?
00:47 It was in 2008-09.
00:51 One day, Custom Officer Ashir Azim was analyzing the data of the containers.
00:56 He was the same Ashir Azim who wrote the famous drama "Dhuaan" for PTV.
01:00 He is in Canada now and is driving a truck.
01:02 During the analysis of the container data, Ashir Azim saw that a container was sent to Afghanistan
01:09 and within 12 hours, this container returned to Karachi with the exported goods.
01:14 It should have been that this container would have reached Afghanistan in 8-9 days.
01:18 It would have taken him 15 days to return to Karachi from there.
01:21 But he was returning to the terminal in just 12 hours.
01:25 It also had the exported goods.
01:27 That means this container took the goods to Afghanistan.
01:30 It was emptied there.
01:31 From there, a new container was brought to Karachi.
01:34 When Ashir Azim analyzed the data, he found that there are about 100-150 containers
01:41 which had gone in the same way and returned.
01:44 When he inquired, the paperwork for the containers was complete.
01:48 This was a very disturbing situation.
01:51 Customs Officer wrote a letter to the Board of Revenue.
01:54 He was told how the containers were being searched.
01:59 This matter should be investigated thoroughly.
02:02 Instead of investigating this matter, the entire team of Ashir Azim was killed.
02:11 According to the law, if a civil servant is killed, he is told the reason for his death in 90 days.
02:17 In this case, no one told Ashir Azim for 1.5 years why he was suspended or killed.
02:23 The officer who was going to him had no answer.
02:27 Later it was found that a secret agency has filed a report against him.
02:31 The report said that Ashir Azim is an agent of the American secret agency CIA.
02:36 Ashir Azim and his team take orders from the CIA.
02:39 And show this strategic data of Pakistan to the United States.
02:42 But the question arises here that if someone was involved in spying or his team was involved,
02:48 then he should have been arrested according to the law.
02:51 But nothing like this happened in this case.
02:53 Ashir Azim and his team were free.
02:56 No one even touched them.
02:58 They just had to be removed from the way so that the business of disappearing the containers continued.
03:03 In 2010, the Chief Justice of that time, Iftikhar Chaudhary, took notice of this matter.
03:10 It was heard with the Karachi Security case.
03:12 When the investigation was done, it was found that thousands of containers of NATO and the United States are disappearing in Pakistan.
03:19 Approximately 20 to 22 lakh duties were on each container.
03:22 But with the help of the officers, 6 to 7 lakh containers were cleared.
03:27 These containers were taken to the warehouses of Karachi and emptied there.
03:32 In this way, the national treasury was harmed more than Rs. 54 billion in duty costs at that time.
03:40 Many people were arrested in this, but this matter has not reached any logical conclusion.
03:45 It was said at that time that the number of containers disappearing is 29,000, which later came to 19,000.
03:53 No one could find out the real truth that how many containers were missing.
03:57 One thing has been revealed from this case that there is no greater crime in this country than honesty.
04:02 Our establishment or governments and politicians have not caused so much harm to Pakistan as much as corrupt bureaucracy has done.
04:09 Officers, big cars, white horns, 7 big armed guards and their royal protocol.
04:16 But if they are called useful, they do not want to leave their cold AC rooms and work.
04:22 And if any of them wants to work with honesty like Saput or Ashir Azim,
04:27 then he is labeled a traitor and either pushed behind bars or forced to cut the district water.
04:37 If you are honest in Pakistan, are loyal to your country, have the honor of your office, work with sincerity,
04:44 then your punishment can also be like Ashir Azim.
04:47 Such an honest officer whose government of Pakistan did not have any kind of respect at that time.
04:53 But Daily Pakistan salutes all the honest officers present in the bureaucracy, including Ashir Azim.
05:00 Please allow your host Yasser Shami to watch Daily Pakistan on Pakistan's biggest digital media network.
