Some living in Cherry Drive told of their anxieties as drainage water overwhelmed their gardens.

00:00 also started seeing puddles in the garden. I was just like, "I've never seen this before. We lived
00:03 here for 11 years." And then we see our neighbors kind of look over our garden and then we saw just
00:10 absolutely waterfalls of water coming through into a garden and they realized that the room was
00:15 flooded. For us it was Thursday, but actually the problem started ages ago, of which then my
00:21 neighbor, but they called Southern Waters to let them know about the problem that their garden was
00:26 flooded. And they just thought it was just their garden and didn't really fully realize how much
00:32 water was trickling in. But after Thursday on, it just, and this is what we were also afraid of,
00:39 the amount of water that was gushing in was quite extreme that our garden was flooded,
00:46 but then our neighbor's garden was flooded and it was just going to be a domino effect.
00:51 We have a huge amount of water damage, but having said that, it does flow downwards because of the
00:58 shape of the neighborhood and we are still pretty much on the top of the hill, but as our kind of
01:05 the neighbors in the bottom of the hill, they were going to be flooded if we didn't sort this out.
01:10 And the amount of water that was coming out was quite extreme. I was working, you know,
01:16 both of us just had two days where we couldn't even work and had to dig up trenches and buy
01:25 350 kilos worth of sand to cover our house. And we're talking about financial problems, but
01:32 I mean, a hundred pounds is nothing compared to the fact that both of us lost two days of working
01:38 day, which we then had to make up by working on the weekends, but also the amount of emotional
01:46 distress that it's cost us.
